I'm thinking of upgrading my cpu and memory. Memory would be kingston 512Mx2
3200 (FSB400) for the dual channel benefits. Does the cpu FSB need to match?
i.e. can cpu be 333 or 400? newegg has nice deal for the kingston memory and
2700+ 333. I could pay the almost double for the amd 3200 400fsb.

I have the same board but the pro2 /rev2. Using an AMD 3200+ 400fsb and
Kingston PC3200/400. Boot up tells me that dual channel is enabled. Been
running for about a month now. Seems very stable (knock on wood) so far.
Doing cad work and solid modeling mostly. Don't know if the dual channel
makes a big difference but at least it works. I'm also using a couple of WD
raptors in SATA. It's a lot faster than my old computer.

John,

The fsb of cpu and ram doesn't need to match, although I believe that when
they do you optimise performance .

I've got 2 systems using rev 1 boards. You can't tell the difference with
dual channel (Corsair TwinX pc3200) or not (generic ram, pc2700). As far as
I'm concerned, dual channel is a con.

The (Barton) 2800 system is noticeably faster than the (Thoroughbred) 2600
system - when the 2800 has a 5950 Ultra video card, and the 2600 has a 5600.
Swap the video cards round, and the system with the faster video card is
perceptibly better regardess of cpu.!

I had a 2700 in a Pro (not Pro2) board, and the cpu and board had a suicide
pact. Autopsy still proceeding!
