anyone tried having 4 sticks of RAM on their S3/DS3?

i have added 2x512 GEIL ddr2-800 RAM to my existing 2x512 GEIL DDR2-800 combo..same chip same timings etc..the thing is it would BSOD on me on some apps and wont pass memtest 86 3.20 (the one that boots from CD), Memtest (in windows) and the Windows memory Diagnostic tool

i tested each stick if there is a bad one and there is none..so i conclude it wont accept my 4 sticks :(

anyone tried having a 4x512 configuration on their DS3/S3?

im on F7 BIOS btw, and i dont plan on flashing my BIOS as ive already have a previous mobo (S3) die on me thru flashing..help please

It is harder for a mobo to run 4 sticks you probably need to lower the frequency (use a divider) or try raising the voltage.

Bro..

If u are going to flash in windows,

ALWAYS LOAD OPTIMIZED DEFAULT BEFORE FLASHING

or it will die.

sorry for the big red caps

p/s: GIGABYTE 965P Express chipset users, PLEASE TAKE NOTE! :D

thanks for the tip man (re: optimized defaults)

anyway, traded up my 4x512mb GEIL value for 4x512mb Micron D9CWXs and now it runs error free (something must be wrong with the GEILs then)

havent tried OCing (the D9CWX) yet as i the room temps now are through the roof (38c OMFG) and the NB temps are scorching HOT( because of the extra heat from the 8800GTS below it) forcing me to return to stock speeds

funny as im running this D9CWX at DDR2-533 and 4-4-4-12 timings LMAO (as im running my e6300 at stock speeds)

36-38c room temps..yes..were hitting unusually high summer temps here :(

edit:

so the D9CWX are supposed to be good huh?

well to run it at 800Mhz, id have to run my e6300 at 2800Mhz to keep it at 1:1..and as far as OCing goes, its a no-go for me till the room temps get colder :D
