PC Specs
MBD: Gigabyte GA-A320M-S2H (don't know what revision as it does not say on the board that i can see)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.20 GHz
RAM: 20GB
Windows 10 Pro
BIOS Version is F52
BIOS Date is 08/02/2020

I have installed a PCIe Gen 3x4 M.2 2280 1TB SSD into the slot but it does not show up in bios nor the disk management nor device manager. I have no clue what i am doing wrong or if this ssd is not compatable with my mobo. Can someone please help me out/

Is the m.2 slot enabled in the bios?

Are you sure this m.2 disk functions?

How do i check if the m.2 slot is enabled? I dont see a option for that in my bios settings. Mind you my bios is from 2020 and there is a new bios update for 2024 but i dont wanna mess somthing up by updating my bios to the current version.

do not know what rev i have cause it does not say on the board that i can see.
The Revision is usually marked in the top left hand corner of the motherboard (at the back), when it is laid out horizontally, facing towards you. The image below (different orientation) should clear up any ambiguity.

The Rev. 1.1 manual for the GA-A320M-S2H states:-

Storage Interface 1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280/22110 SATA and PCIe
x4/x2 (Note 2) SSD support)

(Note 2) Supports only M.2 SATA SSDs when using an AMD 7th Generation A-series or Athlon™ processor.

Since you have an older mobo and CPU combination, you may need an M.2 SATA drive, not an M.2 NVMe drive. You need the "correct" CPU to enable the NVMe interface.

This Kingston link explains the two interfaces for M.2 drives:

Good luck finding a 1TB SATA M.2 drive. As @Bob.B says, a 2.5" SATA SSD is a good alternative.

I have a Gigabyte board of a similar vintage and it works fine with a 240GB M.2 SATA SSD.
