GA-P35-DS3P Wont Boot

Hi All, - any suggestions.
GA-P35-DS3P wont boot. Fans spin for a few seconds, then stop. Never reaches the point when the BIOS is displayed on the screen.

I've been having similar problems for a few weeks. But if I disconnected the power supply, and waited for 10 minutes, it would always boot up. (and stay running all day without problems). But this morning - no go.

I've cleared the BIOS, but no luck.

Corsair 620 power supply
ATI 4770
Intel Q6600 processor
2 dvd drives
3 hard drives.

- ups says (or used to say) total load was only about 200 watts.

You didn't mention anything about your RAM. What RAM kit do you have? Dead/dying RAM can cause this type of problem. Have you tried starting the system with each stick of RAM by itself in the first RAM slot?

You don't happen to have an extra PSU to try do you? That's a very nice PSU, but even the best components can fail.

Hi All, crucial RAM - I removed everything piece by piece; DVD's, hard drives, RAM, network card, usb card, - still no luck. I haven't got a spare power supply. I tried starting with a single RAM module, still no luck.

All I can think of is that's it's power related. Because it used to start if I disconnected the PC from the mains and waited 10 minutes.

So I suppose the next step is to buy a cheap(er) power supply and see if that works.

I've used a few of these in the past and they seem to be good quality.

Do you have a system speaker installed so you can hear the BIOS error beeps? If not, it would be a good idea to get one. You can get one for cheap here:

Thanks - yes - tried that. Jumpered it, even removed the battery for 12 hours, no luck.

so what next;

1) new power supply

then if that doesn't work;

2) a replacement intel 775 MB

I think I'll go with the 1) the new power supply, then if that doesn't work, the new AMD. And when I have more time, continue working with the q6600 as (another) backup system.

Do me a favor. Do a last inspection on your motherboard. Get a flashlight and do a close up inspection looking for blown up capacitors or any other burnt out components. The fact that it was slowly dying away points to faulty capacitor among other things.

Hi, I inspected the mb and the power supply (as far as I could by shining a torch through the grill)and they both look to be find. I'll try a new power supply first, and see how that goes. The corsair has a 5 year warranty, of which 2 years are remaining.

It will be a few weeks before I can make the change, as I'll be on vacation - but I'll keep you updated)

Purchased a new power supply, still wouldn't boot.

So bought a;

GIGABYTE GA-770TA-UD3 AM3 AMD 770 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD

AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Deneb 3.0GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket + 8 gig or ram

- using the original power supply (corsair 620) I just popped the old hard drives in, loaded the new drivers and everything is running fine. I dIdn't have to reinstall the os or any programs...


But now I have a q6600 + 4 gig memory + new power supply (and a spare antec 300) just sitting around doing nothing, so I may as well buy a cheap motherboard and build another backup machine..
