Galax HOF 980 A Good Choice?

Only real downside is their warranty is typically 'only' 2 years but otherwise they're a pretty solid make.

FYI they had to rename in the EU. Something to do with some tinpot company called Samsung holding the rights to the Galaxy name here. 😉

Not sure if you got yours yet because I know they have been hard to come by, but I ordered 2 gtx 980 HOF last week. I have been using them and love them. They are the best 980s in terms of look and build imo. They have 2 different versions, the v1 and v2. V1 is the one with the higher clock speed, V2 with lower clock speed. They ran and might still be running a special promo. You get a gtx 980 HOF V1 with a 240gb ssd for the price of the HOF.

They offer a 3 year warranty on the cards just register them with Galax within 30 days of purchase.

I have a HOF V1 and im thinking about ordering a HOF V2 to SLI them. Do you know if it will work in SLI??? I see no reason it shouldnt and iv been told by people that they should SLI just fine but a couple weeks back i send GALAX a message and the response was that they will not SLI together BUT it sounded like the guy did not know what he was talking about tbh. Do you know??

Here was the email i got back from the Galax tech support. (techsupport@galaxytech.com)

"Aside from the clock speed difference, the version 2 has a redesigned PCB layout and cooler. It also has the next generation IR3595 Digital PWM controller which provides 2X switching frequency vs. the previous generation.

It will not be compatible with the previous model if SLIed."

Strange right??

I own a 980 HoF and i love it and i recently ordered a second 980 when they had a discount and that should come in on Friday june 12.

So yes i love the card it looks great it works great and even though i have heard people complain about coil whine i honestly cannot hear my card at all. I think the reason alot of people complain is because they are inexperienced and the card can come with the back boost button pushed in which basically maxes out the card automatically and the fans start going full speed instantly. At first i found the card to be really loud until i took a look at it and realized the hyper boost button was pushed from the start so when i pushed the button again it turned off and worked like normal so the card is really quiet.
