I made another thread about this but no useful help came out of it.

Hi, I have a system with 2 GTX 770's in SLI, before I had an HD 7770, I have had this problem for a very long time, and I really need a solution.

In any game, If my FPS drops below about 50, the game gets choppy, unsmooth, and unenjoyable, I know a console like the Xbox is made to run at 30 FPS smoothly, and a PC at 30 FPS won't be as smooth, but this is just ridiculous. 30 FPS on an Xbox 360 (I own an old one) is pretty dang smooth, compared to 30 on my PC. If it was just like this for around 30 FPS on my PC I wouldn't care, but it affects me when I get around 50 (or less), making it seem so unsmooth, like I am playing at 20 FPS. I know this is not because of SLI becasue before I had two cards, it did this with one, including a single HD 7770 and a single GTX 770, at different times of course. I have no idea if it is my monitor, or if it is some sort of setting in the NVIDIA Control Panel, or something else, but however it needs to be fixed needs to be figured out.....I will list my full system specs down below, including mouse/monitor. Also, is the fact that my monitor refresh rate is 60HZ a problem?

ASROCK Z77 Extreme 4
Intel Core i7 3770k running @ 4.3 GHz (I know this problem isn't because of my overclock)
2x PNY GTX 770's running in SLI
16GB RAM (Two different kits of corsair ram, both @ 1600 MHz, I guarantee ram isn't the problem)
1TB WD Black/120GB HP SSD
AOC 21.5 Monitor, 60HZ refresh rate (Is this the problem?) http://www.amazon.com/AOC-E2251SWDN-21-5-Inch-Widescree...

Razer DeathAdder Mouse

Solution
It certainly could be because your monitor is rather slow and has a large amount of input lag, which would be exacerbated by FPS significantly under the native refresh rate. I'm not sure on this as I'm not familiar with the performance of that monitor, but it wouldn't hurt to try another monitor to see if the problem persists. Also, you could just be overly sensitive to large fps dips. The only real solution to this would be to turn down whatever amounts of anti-aliasing you are probably running as that is really the only setting that could choke your two 770s to under 60fps. Assuming you are running 2GB models, you are probably running out of VRAM and encountering the massive stutter that is usually associated with that.

A 120hz monitor wouldn't make a difference if you're still running at that low a framerate. Seriously consider lowering settings first to see if a keeping a higher fps solves your problem, or if it is in fact your monitor.

-Edit-

Also, saying your friend runs "Ultra" with 560s doesn't mean much if you don't also mention what levels of AA he's using or what kind of memory usage he's hitting. As long as he doesn't hit the VRAM limit, he won't encounter that stutter, so he probably isn't reaching it. I'm more willing to bet you are since you're saying that whatever games you're running are making you hit under 50fps. There are very few games that can do that to two 770s without a bunch of AA turned or resolution scaling turned on (think BF4).

I meant preset BF4 ultra, which uses over 2gb. My cards can easily max BF4, but in some games like AC4 that drop me to 50, It gets very very unsmooth. Not stuttering, but it feels bad.

lol, you really need to start with important info like that next time. Well, AC3 and 4 are generally terrible on PC for some reason, just bad optimization overall. I also get choppy performance in them when under 60fps, doesn't matter if I run either game on my 60Hz IPS screens or my 120Hz screen, they just seem to be heavily CPU limited. To put it plainly, you are NOT going to have a particularly smooth experience in those games unless you're willing to significantly lower settings so that you can maintain 100+fps. As for your stuttering in other games, I'd still say to try to lower settings first to keep fps high, and if that doesn't help, then maybe consider trying out another monitor. Individual sensitivity to fluctuating framerates is highly variable, so you'll never know for sure until you try these things out for yourself and report your findings.

I'd almost forgotten, but as Calnin mentioned above, if you happen to be running VSYNC, that's the most likely culprit for your stuttering. But again, my previous advice stands, if you want a smooth experience with VSYNC, you'll need to lower settings until you get to a point where you're hitting 60FPS MINIMUM. Shouldn't be too hard to do with 2x770s. If you do happen to run VSYNC because you hate tearing, try running an FPS cap instead. Use EVGA Precision X and set the FPS cap to 60. It'll give you the benefits of no tearing, lower power consumption, lower operating temperatures, AND no performance penalty if you do happen to run under 60FPS.
