hello, im going to sell my lenovo y510p gamin laptop and build my own gaming desktop. For my CPU i was thinking the Intel Core i7-5820K. For the Graphics card i want Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 970. For the rest i'm unsure what products give great gaming performance or were compatible with my 2 selected parts. If people could help direct me to a motherboard, and a memory (RAM) that would be great. I already have a hard drive, power supply. Also, i believe i need a fan for my CPU. Budget wise is as much as i can get my lenovo y510p to sell for. Using Windows 7 64bit

Solution
Well, couple things at first glance: A) why do you want a 6 core intel chip? B) are you looking to overclock your CPU?
Mobo depends on those two answers^
Ram does not matter all that much with gaming. Although, if you're getting a 5th/6th gen i7 you might as well get a board compatible with DDR4 and get some DDR4 given that it actually ain't all that much more expensive than DDR3. That being said, RAM does not actually effect your in game performance any noticeable amount. If any amount at all.
How much are you expecting the laptop to sell for?
How big is the PSU?
How large is the HDD? Do you want an SSD to boot to?
edit: Yes you will need a cpu fan, but those are fairly short money ($30-60) so I wouldn't worry about that for right...

i dont really know anything about this stuff, so I picked that i7 model because its was recommended by this site, im not looking to overclock my cpu. laptop will sell for 600-700$. I would like the computer to be fast at more than just gaming although that is is my focus. If you could point me in the right direction for:
CPU
Memory
Motherboard
also, with that stuff and price range could you possibly tell me how big of a psu i need thanks.
