Hello 1st time here, hopefully someone can help me!
i am getting a pc done for me but not for full gaming
but can i run most games at high or ultra on 1080p with these specs

Intel i5-7400 3.0 ghz
16gb ram
Msi Gtx 1060 6 gb
SSD DRIVE
1tb hard drive
600 gaming power supply with a silent fan

High settings at 1080 is very attainable on that setup.

Very nice choices , make sure your PSU is decent quality.

Should be fine for 1080p gaming ~60 FPS for high-ultra settings. Major usage other than gaming? Total cost for the build? what is the psu? If you can squeeze in coffee lake I5-8400, that will be better for performance and long run

go for cheaper ryzen 3 1300x at $127 which is 3% faster than i5 7400($170) and 8% lower than i3 8100(128$).
i3 8100 is 8% faster but Z370 motherboards are priced around $120 - $140.
4 cores is enough for gaming also am4 motherboards are around $40 to $70, do the math
I have the devil's canyon core i5 4690k clocked at 4.3 Ghz and still rocks on and is only 2% less than i3 8100
