Hey,
I am mining crypto Crypto Mining with GFX cars on Salad.io with my HP Omen 15 (RTX 2060). The temperatures seem good (79C on GPU and 80C on CPU), but the laptop is REALLY REALLY hot to the touch. I have HDD and SSD in my laptop and I have it closed while mining. Is it harming my other components even if the temps are cool?

Hey there,

Well, just to start with, IMO mining on a laptop is not a good idea.

It's a heat hungry pastime, and in a contained space like a laptop chassis, you will always have high heat, which is not good for the longevity of the cooling systems in laptops.

Your GPU temp is on the high side. I've a very similar laptop (HP Omen 15) and my GP doesn't go beyond 69c and that would be playing something like BF V for 2-3 hours. Your CPU is also on a high load, and whilst 80c is perfectly manageable for the cooling system in your laptop, I certainly wouldn't be running it for mining at those temps 24/7.

Sustained temps like that will not be good for other components either. SSD's and HDD's don't like super hot internal temps either.

It would be my recommendation to stop mining with your lappie, and use it for what it was designed for. i.e Gaming!
