hi i was wondering whether it would be feasible to get a 120HZ monitor on a £150 budget and whether a TN or IPS monitor would be best for fps gaming not in any competitive way

Solution
Here's my 2 picks for 24" monitors. One of them is the same BenQ you mentioned (good pick on your part). Either are good for your purpose:

dude first of all tell me what type of gamer actualy you are

Pc gamer with a GTX 660

ok so you just need 1920x1080 coz thats the perfect resolution with full hd ofcos 1920x1080 simply mean full hd so get that BenQ GL2450HM best one dude even low budget that you mention man here is the link best one get that and hpy gaming [ http://www.flipkart.com/benq-gl2450hm-24-inch-led-backlit-lcd-monitor/p/itmdfpqpw7nffhjy?pid=MOND9ZW9AMNZ4FKU&icmpid=reco_pp_same_computerperipheral_monitor_5&ppid=MOND9ZW92KGR98QR ]

In my opinion if you are a common gamer and not a self-proclaimed "professional" gamer response times do NOT matter and therefore it does not matter which one you choose although a TN monitor does have less response time.
