Update:
Just for completeness, I thought I'd once more mention my Logitech mouse, and the battery problem.
While in Win98SE, with the very latest drivers off the Logitech site, I averaged less than a week per set of batteries. Not to mention, that no matter how I adjusted the mouse, there was lots of lag. And the supposed hardware cursor acceleration was horrible. (All issues became increasingly worse as time went by.)
There are supposed to be four different power modes with the mouse, and this one was not entering the lowest state when the system was shut down. Which explained why the batteries were dying so quickly.
Right now, I'm running a fresh install of Win2K. I never loaded the Logitech software ... just hooked up the mouse to the PS/2 port, and ran with the default Windows drivers.
Since then, I've had the same set of batteries in the mouse for over 3 weeks. The lag has become almost imperceptible, and that's not because I've become used to it. With the Logitech software installed, editing a scan in Photoshop was an useless exercise in grief. But not anymore.
Interestingly enough, the power modes for the mouse are now all operational. So I skipped the RMA (which was very close.) And the mouse never needs to be synchronized with the receiver, even if I take out the batteries.
The only setting I've adjusted is the DPI, which is set at 100.
Oh, and I switched to the new Energizer titanium batteries. But I can't imagine how that could have made the difference.
Odd, huh?
Well, that's my follow-up.
Thanks again for the terrific sound card review!
