So I want to build a low budget gaming PC around £450.

I want my PC to consist of the AMD FX8320 CPU,
and also the Radeon R9 270x GPU.

Can someone help me choose the other components but keeping it in the price bracket.

Thanks

it would be very hard to push good enough mobo and psu in there under that budget the 8 core fx chips are power hogs, boards with bad vrm desing have trouble maintaining stable clocks for these chips, if i may ask as to why do you want the fx 8320 as your cpu, are you planing on doing some video editing( since in gaming all those cores are useless and any i3 performs better plus the mobo for i3 would be a lot cheaper)
well i would go for something like this http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/kczJ23
, but its already a bit out of your budget and that is without any case, though you can probably change the psu to a cheaper one(i wouldn't, but you can do that) and get a cheaper board(i would not go for anything lower for 8 core chip)

What other CPU would you advise that's good enough for work as well as gaming?

I already have an i3 laptop and it does take some time to compile programs. Any other suggestions?

laptop cpu and desktop cpu are two very different things, you can not compare the two, a laptop chip will be atleash 50% slower than a desktop, also in laptop you are dealing with heat restraints, though if you are certain you want something faster the the cheapest i5 will do the job aswell, going any higher than i3 will result in a lot higher price

I was considering an i5.
Do you know of any AMD CPUs that are faster than an i3?

faster than i3 you need to move up to i5 or 1150 xeons/i7's(though that would be overkill for your needs), but both are quite a bit more expensive than the i3,in your budget the i3 4330 is the best option, if you can get another 50-70quid in there then i5 will be in reach, the 8 core parts could be faster if all 8 cores are used and only in integer math, in everything else amd is behind

What Intel CPU would you advise that would work well with the R9 270x?
Budget - £150
