My custom built PC wont run as promised...I bought a 1600 euro PC and it doesn't run as it should. Counter Strike GO runs at 50 frames at low settings, Just Cause 2 is unplayable for its frames and all other games run poorly as well. Please help!
Specs are:

  • Intel core i7 4790k CPU @ 4.0 GHz.
    8 Gb RAM
    64 bit Windows 7 Pro
    NVidia gtx 770
Update: Temperature

  • while idle: 30°C-32°C
    While in-game 33°C-42°C

Solution
Are your cables plugged into the gpu or mobo? Sometimes if you have the display cable plugged into the mobo ports then the pc will run off the intergrated iGPU in the cpu.

What resolution are you playing at? Have you checked system load while playing games, such as CPU load, GPU load, and whether or not the GPU is running at full speed? Use GPU-Z and CPU-Z to determine load and speed, and log the results using the logging feature. Monitor temps as well to make sure you're not throttling due to overheating. I prefer CoreTemp for that.

Yeah, it was... and I laughed... because I've done stuff like this before. Aren't computers fun? :wahoo:

1600 Euro is $1800 and for that they gave you a 2 year old CPU and a 3 year old GPU?

2 years ago I replaced the guts of my PC. With an i5-4670K 16GB RAM a new Asus Premium Mobo and a GTX 660Ti it cost me 750 Euro, Retail. Late last year I bought a R9 390 which cost me 330 Euro, so 1100 in all over 2 years, and I can play everything at MAX, (though I bought the beast GPU to play Skyrim a 4/5 year old game) If all you do is gaming you don't need an i7, since modern games are GPU locked, as you've just seen.

Did you check Tom's GPU charts? http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-gpus,4380.html#xtor=EPR-8886 Or did you just go with what the builder suggested?
Selling the i7 over the i5 is well known ploy which allows the builder to jack the prices up, but with almost no effect on gaming performance: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1930810/4670k-4770k-gaming.html Your CPU is still running at Stock I see.

Next time you may want to check pcmasterrace over at Reddit, they do continually updated PC builds for gaming:

Thanks for the tips! :) I did get the pc 2 years ago though.
