I'm looking at building a dual-purpose whitebox: gaming PC and VMware lab. Gaming PC is the most important part of this, but I'd like to be able to install ESX or ESXi on it as well. Based on my research, I think this motherboard will do the trick with a little work (i.e., other people have gotten motherboards with the same chipset to work with ESX or ESXi).

Budget is in the $800-900 CAD range.

Gigabyte EP45-UD3P ATX LGA775 P45 DDR2 2PCI-E SATA2 RAID HD Sound 2GLAN 1394A CrossFireX Motherboard $182
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Dual Core Processor LGA775 3.16GHZ Wolfdale 1333FSB 6MB Retail $270
G.SKILL F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK PC2-8500 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-1066 CL5-5-5-15 240PIN Dual Channel Memory Kit $80
Antec Three Hundred Mini Tower Gaming Case 300 ATX 3X5.25 6X3.5INT No PS Front USB & Audio $68
380 WATT ATX12V V2.0 PSU ANTEC PART # 761345273800 $68
Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E Video Card $171

I'm open to any suggestions.

Oh, and if anybody has some suggestions on places to buy parts in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), that would be great. I lived in Wisconsin when I built my last two machines and bought largely from Newegg. I'm wondering if that's still a good choice.

That psu won't cut it. 450W minimum and 550W for crossfire:

You're spending too much on memory that's not even the best. G.SKILL's bests are HK & HZ. Go with cheaper 800mhz unless you overclock. Oh here's a new site for ya. You have to pay taxes called handling there:

www.newegg.ca

Great selection. Average prices. Excellent customer service. Or if you're outside of B.C., you pay 5% tax + shipping at:

Thanks! I'll go up to the 650W power supply and down to 800 MHz RAM. I was always pretty happy with newegg.com in the states, I didn't realize newegg.ca would take care of the GST/PST.
