My friend is selling his gaming Pc. It has a black case with a side glass for viewing. Just wanted to know if it's worth for $300. It runs on windows 10. He said he plays fortnight, league of legends and assassins creed with great fps. It's fully functional and running well. What Y'all think? Worth it? Thank you.

Specs:
16GB DDR3
Radeon 7870 GPU
500 GB HDD
AMD FX 8-Core Processor
850w power supply
250 GB SSD

Not bad for $300, but quite dated. What would you be willing to spend on a computer if you were building it from scratch?

Future upgrades: DDR3 kind of locks you down to at best needing to replace the motherboard and CPU with a 4th generation Intel for the best possible performance.

The FX 8-core can handle faster GPUs, but only up to late model mid-range cards. So RX580 or GTX1060 is about where I would stop.

I think I would leave that one alone, unless two things.

A) the case is super high quality when purchased and is a type that allows multiple mobo formats so that you can choose between ATX and down.

B) the SSD is something recent and decent

I would also add that if the PSU is a good make it will be a bonus.

With that said. If I had nothing to start with and the above qualifiers were met, I would get it. This way you have a great start towards an upgrade path, something to put the parts in. It should game well on many titles at 720.
A video card aimed at an upgrade down the road next, then pick up your mobo, proc, RAM all together.

If you can save up another $200 within a reasonable time and have no immediate need I would wait and purchase something new and build.

This is awful but at least I get the $300 budget to work with a single 4gb ram stick 😀 It doesn't have a dedicated GPU but it will run :x

The main issue is the fx cpu which really struggles in new games.

^ be aware on the above build that a BIOS update will likely be required before the 2xxx chip will work with that mobo. Aside from that nitpick, that is a fairly good place to start and honestly should perform right on par with the machine you are considering...aside from the need for more RAM.

Oops xD

AMD did say they will provide a boot kit for free but the hassle doesn't make it worth it tbh. I'd rather pay $10 more for 450 board.

What you can do is simply get a used dell with an i7 from the 3rd gen or up from ebay for fairly cheap (the towers usually go for about 200$) slap a 1050ti in there and you have a much better system already.

This will run better than the 1st one with Vega 11 integrated graphics
