Hi all. Looking for some advice. I play mainly Cs go on pc, and I'm looking for a suitable cpu to play max settings

I currently have :

Pentium G4560
8gb ram
Gtx 1060 6gb
240gb ssd
Win 10

I want to play on ultra high settings and get good fps. Iv been told my cpu is bottlenecking my gpu. Is it worth buying the latest cpu's, or could I get away with an older i5 or i7 which are a lot cheaper. I only really play older games. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

You could get a good i7 processor for sure. That would leave some headroom for if you want to play some other games too. Are you planning on a new motherboard ?

Chances are I won't venture into anything new. Would be happy to just have Cs go ultra high etc. And if I can get away with not spending loads, even better

Also i have a fx 8350 with a rx 570 and get 200-300 fps on 4:3 1024x768. I would go for performance over looks in csgo. I dont see much diffrence with some settings and csgo but they decrease fps by alot. I would stick with low settings with a stretched res.

Pentium G4560 is a kabylake processor, dependant on TC motherboard maybe something like an I7 7700 would yield stellar results.

I7-3770K @4.6GHz / gtx970 I get solid 300fps at ultra settings in CS:GO. Counterstrike is a low thread count game, 2-3 threads depending on the map. Any decent i5 will help, even an i3-7 100 would help. Much of the fps limits are set by the backlog of that dual core pentium. It's not the gpu that's killing the fps, but the inability of the cpu to pump out enough fps to take advantage of what the gpu can do.

Thanks for the info. So without spending a fortune you would say an older i7 or slightly older i5
