Hello all. Ive got an older gateway laptop that is missing the single pin for the AC power supply. Does anyone know if i can easily replace it? Or will i need to replace the entire motherboard?

I am guessing that you are talking about having a two prong AC plug instead of the more standard 3 prong plug.

When you say "missing" do you mean there's a place for it and it's broken off or something? Or do you mean it never had one?

If it's broken, just get a replacement AC cord. If it was never there, do not worry about it.

Why on earth would you think you need a new motherboard?

Sorry for the confusion, I'm talking about the 1-pin female port for charging the laptop. It's on the back of the unit...at one time the pin was inside the round adapter hole for the power supply

Its in the laptop. I tried opening the laptop by removing all the screws, but i've got all visible screws out and it still wont open.
