Geforce 3 or P4 1.7

should i got with a Geforce 3 card or a new mobo and p4 1.7 with 128 megs of ram......Or a Atlon 1.33 266 & mobo

No point to buy G3 for the time being, cos there are not many software titles which can take fully advantage of it. Go for the CPU, mate!

Well no point of buying the geforce3 or the P4 1.7 . Wait for the Northwood P4 (improved Fpu). Well the Radeon will last till the Radeon2.

I would look at getting hard drives. Well get a Abit HotRod 100 Raid PCI card. Get 2 IBM 30gb 60gxp. You'll noticed some nice improvement. Trust me when i got my Radeon my 10gb 5400rpm ata66 hard drive killed more proformace then my Savage4 32mb. When i got my 20gb 60gxp "2weeks ago" i loved the speed. Besides i have a P3 733 and runs fast enough.

I'd suggest going for a cool hard drive array as well. Two 40 gig 60GXPs (I don't think they come in 30 gigs but I'm not sure... 20 gig platters...?) and an IDE RAID card would do nicely. Or maybe a new kickass monitor. If you're sitting on a P3 933 for now, you might as well wait for Palomino/Crush and Northwood as you're not suffering along with a 166 MMX...

Harddrives is the biggest bottleneck you have. RAID ATA100 or Scsi3 160 is your safest bet. Scsi harddisk's lowers Cpu usauge since the controller does most work over the cpu with ata100
