Hello,

Im looking to overclock my graphics card using MSI Afterburn and I would like some help.

The graphics card is :

Geforce 9600 GT 1GB
Code Name : G94
Core 700MHz
Shader 1680 MHz
Memory 900mhz

I currently Idle at 29C and on full load at about 34C

Hi

First decide what part of the card your overclocking first (E.G Core or Memory) as its alot easier to overclock one at a time

Next increase the frequency by a small amount, perhaps 15Mhz, apply changes and then you'll have to stability test to make sure your overclock is stable.
Perhaps play your favorite game or run a few benchmarks.
Keep an eye on those temps aswell.

If your new overclock is stable then increase the frequency by another 15Mhz and retest for stability. When you reach a clock that is unstable you can either increase the voltage (providing MSI AB supports voltage control for the 9600GT) or reduce the overclock to regain stability.

Will do, I can play skyrim on ultra and only hit about 38c however I do lag slightly when entering big citys. I think I should be fine with tempretures.

I have a 9600GT myslef but a Zotac 512MB. My standard clocks are 650 and 900 and currently have it overclocked at 745 and 1102. I use Rivatune but with my stock cooling, I ses idle at 38C and under load, goes up to 60C.

I use Furmark to stress test my GPU, its a great program.

You should be able to see some similar results with your card. It is not the most powerful card in the world but great for overclocking.

Post your results once you have overclocked, interested to see what you get.

Yeah will do I have the stock cooler on with a 120mm fan blowing air from the front of the case towards the graphics card which dropped it from 40c idle and 55c full load without the fan to what Im getting now.

Hello again

Heres my stats at stock

Core 700MHz
Shader 1680 MHz
Memory 900mhz

After testing for 2 hours it seems fine at my new speeds not attempted any higher yet but will do :)
Im getting 35C idle and 45-50C full load.

Core 800MHz
Shader 1920 MHz
Memory 950mhz

Heres a link to the CPU-Z showing my speeds. I now play skyrim on ultra without lag which is actually super nice.

Keep pushing your card, it can go further. Just keep an eye on your temps and watch for any artifacts on the screen or BSOD's.

I just replaced my 9600GT with a GTX 275, so more overclocking fun to be had! WoopWoop

If you like any of my answers, please vote for them! Thanks

so my msi GeForce 9600 gt 1gb has:

no voltage controll
stock core 650 MHz
stock shader 1625 MHz
stock memory 400MHz

and max I can go on msi afterburner is:
core 845 MHz
shader 2112 MHz
memory 520 MHz
is it the same gpu? :??:
