Geforce Game ready driver.

I'm new to the Nvidia update process and have been notified of a Geforce game ready driver.
Is this the latest update I should install or is it a driver specifically for a certain game?

General rule of thumb I follow is unless I have a new game that it adds support, or I have a driver related issue, like games crashing, etc. I leave it alone. If you're not having issue it doesn't always help anything to update right away. If it ain't broke don't fix it kinda deal.

Game ready drivers i think are just small optimizations in the sense they just choose your in game settings for you. To give you the "optimal" frame rate in a game. But most people can figure it out on their own so meh.

So far the new WHQL (355 branch) working just fine on my win 10 machine.

No. The driver did not determine your optimal game setting at all. That one is done by GFE. GFE is not part of nvidia core driver. Hence you can ditch GFE entirely during driver installation process. Driver optimization is not something end user can modify. Not even game developer can do it. That's why if there is driver specific issue the problem can only be fix by device manufaturer. At best we can use work around but not directly interfere with how the driver work.

My bad i got the useless bloatware mixed up wit the actuall driver utility. Amd has the same thing i forget the name.

Not sure the exact name but some called as AMD Rptr. A join effort by AMD and Raptr

The bloatware is GeForce Experience. Im using the new drivers as well they seem fine so far.

So should I only install a driver like this if it's going to address any problems I have which have been fixed or is it better to just stay up to date with the latest driver anyway?

No you generally always want to be up to date with geforce drivers unless theirs some terrible bug that breaks a few games. I usually give it a few days before jumping onto the driver just to be on the safe side test the waters before you just dive in.

Off topic: did win 10 still forcing hardware to have the latest driver? With the latest WHQL i'm actually download the driver package myself since latest driver for nvidia did not appear when i check windows updates.
