GeForce GT 240 DDR3 1024MB OR DDR5 512MB

Which is the best provider?Wats the latest price?

Yes I would have to say the DDR5 would be all around better unless you're trying to play at super high resolutions which you shouldn't be getting a GT 240 anyway in my opinion.

IF you're going budget with a 300w PSU than the DDR5 should be good for what you want to do.

The DDR5 goes a long way towards eliminating the 128 bit bus as a bottleneck... BUT... like everyone else said, why bother with that card? Low-end cards with 1GB of RAM make me chuckle.

You would only need 1 gb ram if you had a giant, or multiple monitors. For the power of this card 512 is all you need. Plus the ddr5 is much better.


Also why is ATI Radeon fan asking us about this? ATI still has way better offerings in this price range.

I have a Samsung 233Sw 1920 x 1080 1080P LCD Monitor,I am not an extreme gamer,Just plays games at 1680x1050 with 2X antialiasing,...

Yes I am an ATI FAN,Canu gave me the Ati models inthe price range,

I am from Kerala,Kollam,Here U wont got gfx cards below9400gt and above 9600gt
when asked a dealer they said it will release in the next year in india!

when come to ATi,
I some shops are available but they only have 3450 PCI-E from msi or others,

I have a Biostar IDEQ 330P small form factor with a 300w power supply. I'm currently running a GeForce 9500 GT. I can play UT3 at 1280x1024 but have to turn the graphics down. A GT 240 ddr5 should let me play with settings on high. (I have a similar spec. 9600GSO (G92 version) in another system and can play UT3 on high) The GT 240 makes good sense for small form factor systems with limited power supplies and I plan on getting one after the holidays. (Come on Santa, give me money!)

The HD5770 is equivalent to the HD4870 in terms of performance but it is DX11 compatible and has "eyefinity" which is 3 monitor support. It's also built on a 40nm process which means it has much greater power efficiency and runs cooler. It's a good card for 1920x1080.
It is a 128 bit card but the DDR5 ram makes the memory bandwidth actually slightly higher than 256 bit cards with DDR3, such as the HD4850.

but in the review on occ,I saw it is getting only 9fps with 2xAA and medium settings @1920 x 1080

In what game? Even for Crysis it should do significantly better than that.

I just looked at the OCC review of the HD5770. The lowest FPS it shows is 18 for Crysis. That's with the settings maxed and at 1920x1200 not medium at 1920x1080. Also all the cards that break 20 FPS in that test are twice the price or more.

Basically in the midrange I would look for these cards in this order;
HD5770 > HD4870=GTX 260 > HD5750 > HD4850=GTS 250 > HD4770 > HD4830=9800GT
Just get the best one you can afford.

Of course you'll also want to make sure your PSU can handle whatever card you choose.

it might be better though (remember memory bandwidth isn't everything), all of the benchmarks comparing the 2 use an old beta driver for the 5770, and there have been driver improvements. Though i would say by now that they are about equal (4870 was slightly better than 5770 initially)

The 5770 and 4870 perform so similarly now that the 5770 is better because it is more efficient and runs cooler as well as DX11 and eyefinity which in my book is better.
