Geforce GTX 275 PSU requirements?

Heya guys. I'm thinking of upgrading my pc and buying me a ASUS Gforce GTX 275. Only thing is thats bugging me now is the PSU I'm gna need for it.

I'm thinking of buying a 585 WATT PSU. Would this be enough?

If I buy the GTX 275, my specs will be:

Geforce GTX 275
4 Gig 1066 Transcend RAM
K9A2 Platinum MSI Motherboard
9600+ Phenom, 2.3 Quad Core Processor
500 Gig Seagate Baracuda Harddrive
Liteon DVD-Writer
Normal Cooling + Custom CPU fan

So my question is once again, would the 585 WATT PSU be able to cut it with the GF GTX 275? I'm working with a constricted budget as well.

Meh, we don't have those down in South-Africa 😛. Only the 580, and then 700 watt, which is a good 30$-50$ difference.

I just really wana kno whether or not the 585 would do the trick? I don't really need excess PSU wattage. I'm not going to go SLI or anything. Just the single GPU.

It has 1pcie connector and the gtx275 requires two, so you need an adapter, but it should supply enough power.

585W may not be enough as that's just higher than nVidia's min requirement

Hmmm, well I've posted on some other forums as well and it seems the peeps think it should work fine with a Gtx 260. Any other reasons why it would'nt?

See the backwards RU ? , under that there should be a 7 digit code beginning with a capital E, that will let us find the actual maker of the psu.

Hmmm, soz Dell, I'm quite n00b with pc hardware it seems. lol. Was wondering, would a GE-P720A-C2 GIGABYTE® ODIN 720W 24-Pin Power Supply work for the Geforce gtx 275?

720 Watt ought to be enough for the 275 wouldn't it ?

720 watts should certainly be enough for the GTX275.
The psu is another unit that is hard to find info on, even Gigabytes own site doesn't provide much.
The specs say a single 6+2 pin pcie connector, the manual shows a 6 and a 6+2.

Yea, I can't seem to find any good if any reviews for the Gigabyte Odin Series. I think I'm gonna try the 720 Watts and let you guys know how it goes.

Both are 80+ certified. They tend to be a bit more conservatively rated and might save you a bit over time on the electric bill.

Gigabyte also has an 80+ certified 550w that will provide 30+ amps on the 12v rail. I'll bet you a buck it'll handle a 260 or a 275 but of these 3 it looks like the weakest:

I have GTX275 1.7G and working fine with 700W. The sales said minimum is 550 and above 600 is fine. I got 700 got SLI in future use. But this Card requires 4 power connectors, which I had to buy extra one.

I ran my GTX-275 on the 530w Rosewill that is the first link I provided in the prior post until last week. No problems. I've also run a GTX-260 on it and a HD4850 w/o issues on any of the 3 cards. The quoted minimum wattages assume you're gonna go out and buy a 'Caca 585w' PSU for $24.99.

The only reason I am not still using it is I fell into a deal on a PC Power & Cooling Quad 750 for $20 new in the box and I need the 530w Rosewill for another 'puter that will probably have a GTX-275 card in it also.

Guess I'll have to get a new mobo and a pair of GTX-295s so I can justify this heavy overkill PSU now 😉

You can also take a look at http://www.bfgpower.com/. I know you said your looking at ASUS but this site might give you an idea of wattage vs. nvidia chipset...
