Hello there tom's hardware I have just joined and have heard good reviews about this website and was hoping that someone here could possibly help me with my problem.

My problem is that I recently bought a GTX 580 off of newegg. After installing the card into my motherboard and installing the drivers I went to www.systemrequirementslab.com to see if I could run some games before buying them.

I click battlefield 3 and I get this, http://i39.tinypic.com/14nfynl.png

It is saying that my brand new graphics card isn't good enough to run the game!? I do not see how this is possible, I checked on the Geforce website and it says it has a model shader of 5.0 so I do not see why it is coming up as a 3.0?

My system is in the screenshot above.

EDIT: by the way in that screenshot I cropped out the thing where it says FAIL. Thought that would be an important piece of information.

Well, after a night of rest I was thinking of what someone said about it could be my motherboard that was giving me the problem? And I thought about when I flashed my BIOS I installed the F9B BIOS which was a beta driver, and maybe something could've messed something up so my card is reading as something different? Anyway maybe I am completely wrong and am just rambling.

Well I do not own crysis the only game i have that is most recent is Dead Island and i can run that game like a charm. zero fps lag, its great, its just BF3 it's really ticking me off.

it says "pci x16" it should say 'pci x16 2.0' .... so that's a prob i think...i'm not home now but i'll post how it should look later -- pretty sure you can google the remedy

When I run GPU-Z at first it comes up at PCIe 2.0 16x but after a few seconds it goes to PCIe 16x, probably a bug or something.

It is showing up as DirectX version 11 on the DX diag.

What is a directX11 game that I could try it with besides bf3, they gave me a free batman arkam city with my GPU purchace

Try the Unigine Heaven benchmark http://unigine.com/products/heaven/download/

If you can run that in dx11 and switch tessellation on/off then dx11 is working fine. While in the benchmark hit F3 to switch tessellation on/off, and F2 for wireframe on/off so you can see the polys.

here is the problem i think ....it shouldn't do that ....i dont have a solution though --- good lick

your mb does supoport x16 2.0 ... did you re-install mb drivers after you flashed the bios....also when flashing bios you need to reset all valus to default on the first boot...then do any tweaks later...dig into this

well i was talking to someone over the phone somone on another forum helping me and he was saying that since i upgraded from windows xp to win 7 that it could have left some things behind. He told me to run a virtualbox program but what one can run 64bit 7

Ok read this http://www.squidoo.com/uninstalldirectx

Apparently there are tools you can use to attempt to remove directx, but from what I understand directx is basically part of the OS. You can attempt to remove directx using the tool mentioned in that link but you definitely want to backup your computer in case something goes wrong, and do this at your own risk. If the uninstaller doesn't work, then you will have to reformat and reinstall windows 7 from scratch in order to get directx 11 working properly.
