I have go a no-name digital camera which I am told can be used as a
webcam.

Is there any generic driver software I can install to make it work.

When I attach it by a USB cable WinXP does not automatically
recognise it.

When you say no-name DC, is there no name on it at all.
Do you know the make cos if you did you can download drivers for it from
most manufactures.

Can you show us a picture of your webcam which you cannot get to be
recognised?

In my experience, I have had no-name cams come up and work, but, it took
a teensy bit of finagling...

Below are two links to different info about the camera and its
manufacturer.

http://www.allproducts.com/manufacture98/achievecn/product5.html

http://www.achievecn.com/views.asp?hw_id=378&hw_name=Precision%20mi
ni%20digital%20cameras or http://tinyurl.com/35dfd

The camera is about as no name as they get. As you can see there
is no s/w to download at their website and they don't reply to
emails.

Both of your links do say that a setup disk comes with the camera.
Did you not get one?

Then it would seem you need to get one from
the maker.

I believe these cams use a generic driver CIF 2110 USB

I have a setup program from a Trust webcam I can mail you which may do the
trick
