I have a fx 6300 and a gtx 750 ti oc and when i am playing a few games the gpu never gets above 60% usage. This causes occasional fps problems. not that they are making it unplayable but I would like to try maxing things out for the smoothest gaming. What could be happening?
also I only have 4gb of ram which I am about to get another 4gb stick today.

Thanks

What games exactly? It's not like the video card is not doing what it should, the issue could be that the CPU and video card can't run the game you are playing at the setting you are using smoothly. Having 8 gig of RAM should help a bit, again depending on the games.

Arma 3, assassins Creed unity, days, and most recent is watch dogs which has been weird. It will run at 60-70 fps and randomly drop to 0 for a second. On watch dogs the gpu will run at 85-95% though

Asid from Arma 3, those games all want a beefy system to run smoothly. While good hardware, the FX 6300 and the 750 Ti are on the lower end of the gaming tiers. After you get the 8 gig of RAM test things, if you get the same issues, lower the quality settings a notch and test again. Then another notch and test again. I'm guessing with your system on 8 gig, you can get smooth play at Medium if you are trying to play at High now.

The ram did help! Especially with watch dogs but over all I can tell a difference. I still don't know why my cpu and gpu are only running at 70% max... What could be the reason for that?

This question is asked a lot, only people that would be able to explain properly are the game developers. I've never seen an exact reason as to why some programs max out CPU usage while others don't.
