MoneyMike...how can you guarantee your system is more stable then mine or anybody' elses just cause you bought it from an OEM..

I get 24 hour Support 7 Days A week for FREE! because im the one supporting my Dream Machine!, and my system is stable as hell, and it's been running trouble free for 4 yrs! (only problems i had are Software..nothing hardware, and I caused the problems by installing bugged Software)

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it you TOOL!!

Harisahmed,

If the only problem you have with the DIYer's opinion on this pc is that you don't have the time, you would be better off getting a new mid range system from Dell. Save about $2500 off what you are looking to spend now and just use it to get another Dell in about 2 years when you feel like upgrading.
I have to disagree with you here, although I get your point. Yes, the purpose of these forums is to help people save money. However, I have to still say "Dude, stay away from the Dell". You can get a better system from a local store. For people who have no clue, and want to get the best system for the money, the order of shopping has to be something like:

1.) Internet (best prices, must know parts and trustworthy sites).
2.) Local Shows (vendors come in from all over region and compete on price....decent prices, watch out for sharks with switcharoos, OEM, unscrupulous deals...go with someone who knows parts, systems, and vendors).
3.) Local mom and pop stores (must know parts and prices....dealer must be reputable...tremendous variability on prices). These places have the ability to DESTROY prices from Dell and Gateway. How can these little guys beat huge resellers like Dell with little or no economies of scale?!? No advertising costs! Every magazine has at least one multi-page, color Dell ad. They also do mailings, TV, internet, and radio ads. These cost a fortune. Additionally, they must have pretty high margins. Yes, you pay taxes at mom-and-pops, but no shipping.
4.) DELL, finally, or other large, on-line vendors, (EXCLUDING GATEWAY). These systems seem to have more problems than the average DIY machine, which is probably why they need to offer 1 year on site, with a 3-year upgrade option. I say skip the Gateway's because you'd have to be an idiot to by the same stuff that Dell sells, but pay tax AND shipping! Too much crappy software with little value (probably a major contributor to configuration problems). These places often use all the right buzz words to sell computers, but these systems have little power for the money. People, GeForce MX is not a Ti500 and MS Works IS NOT OFFICE!! The bottom line is that these places don;t make parts, they just buy from 3rd party vendors and put them together like your local shops do. Just because it says Dell on it doesn't mean that they designed a damn thing...except for the kooky power supply thing which locks you into their replacement parts. Also avoid Compaq for proprietary reasons and nutty problems that these systems come with.
5.) Lastly, and this is not truly an option.....large retail stores like Best Buy, CompUSA, Sears, Wal-Mart....you get what you pay for....NOT!!! Anyone can put together a crappy computer for $600...use integrated components and celerons with a 15" monitor and a crappy computer. I'm not saying there's not a market or need for cheaper computers, but do a little homework first.

My first rule of thumb for people that I help buy computers is.....DECIDE WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD, AND DON'T SPEND MORE! Hopefully, if you can talk to someone knowledgeable (or just ask in these forums if you don't know a local computer dork), find out what type of parts you need based on your computer needs....you can't get a good CAD system for $599 and someone surfing the internet and typing letters in Word doesn't need to spend $1800. If you work with someone knowledgeable, they can help you pick out a computer that fits your needs, and falls into your price range. Once you set your price point, get the absolute best machine for that money. You do it with cars, golf clubs, furniture, and it should be done with computers of all prices.

you call us dorks but here you are being an ass in a hard ware forumn? what the hell did you expect? a bunch of people talking about cooking? just about every one on this board likes computers, and built thiers. your the oddball here, what the hell are you doing here anyway?

i went to the tomshardware forums and all i got was this lousy signature.

here's my 2 cents worth.
1) you started the foul language, not anyone else
2) you never listed your exact specs, which you've been asked to do.
3) this forum is NOT all about problems. alot of people post possible setups in case someone knows about possible hardware conflicts.
4) its pretty obvious that this site is for people who build their own computers, so why are you here?
5) if you want to what people think of falcon (good/bad) check out www.resellerratings.com and see what people say there. i have looked at falcon and alot of it aint pretty.
6) i've owned alot of computers, from and apple 2c (my 1st one) ast's, dell's, mac's and i take great pride that my current computer was built by me from scratch. yeah i made a few mistakes with it, but it now works great and i wouldn't trade it for the best that falcon, alienware or anyone else makes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't mean to imply that people should buy from Dell(just the first name that came to mind). IMO, your order for shopping is a little flawed if applied to the average shopper.

1) Requires them to spend enough time online getting the most up to date reviews or waiting for a response on a forum and praying that you get some good advice. Even after they get some information compiled, it usually has conflicting information. One site tests using system A at resolution setting B and gets C results and then site number 2 uses system D...and gets >C results. Problem - time and uncertainty.

2) There are always stories about xyz that bought a system for a great price only to have problems later because of faulty parts and the vendor is long gone. Problem - uncertainty.

3)Best option IMO. Talk to someone who owns a shop, figure out what you need, and let them build it.

4)Next best option IMO, as long as you stick to the ones that use good parts and tech support.

5)Only for those that are clueless and don't care about what they are buying, again IMO.

Regardless of which option someone uses there is always a risk of having problems with your system. It could be hardware related or software related, but it's always bound to happen to someone.

In this particular thread, the people that like Voodoo...etc., seem to mostly be worried about the quality of the parts and the time needed to maintain the system. Although DIYers' systems can match or exceed anything from Voodoo, Dell, etc., they require more knowledge and time to build and test it. Except for the fancy cases, I still can't see the benefit in buying from Voodoo/Falcon/etc over a decent machien from an OEM, but people are entitled to buy from where ever they want.

You can lead a horse to water, but can't make him drink (and you shouldn't poke or hit or call him names, since it ain't going to make it any happier with you).

Holly Molly......I check my post and find it to be one of the most popular! This thread must of attracted every computer dork in the free world. Keep em coming dweebs I'm closing in on 1,000 looks! Fatass...er I mean Fatburger, and AMDpussy, you guys can do better than this...............

Eat me,

You're really not making yourself look good by posting this. This is not necessary.

I paid $2,200.00 for it.

You paid a lot of money for a computer with no monitor or speakers. Honestly, you got hosed. That's your problem though. Not everyone can or wants to build their own computer and this is completely understandable. However, you are now posting on a enthusiasts forum, and if you thought you were going to impress people here with your falcon, then you are wrong. I understand that you might not have time to build your own computer, but you apparently have time to post here bragging about a Falcon system in the CPU section. If you really wanted to express your excitement you should have done it in the computer shops section.

At least you didn't buy a voodoo system I guess.

I have the money and the knowledge that my new rig will be the best available.

Disregarding all the immature dork and dweeb talk, this is where you are wrong. Your ego and your wallet has swelled your head and given you a bad attitude. Go to the computer shops section and honk your horn as much as you want, but get out of this section.

I am about half way through this horribly long thread, so if something is covered below excuse me. I can say sir, you are a jackass. It is obvious you either wanted to get flamed to satisfy yourself and have fun or you wanted someone to talk you out of an idiotic decision or you would not have bother to post "im gettng a falcon" with no question at all asked! I DO BUILD MACHINES FOR A LIVING along with computer networks and I can sell you a system like the ones listed on thier web site for at least 25% less and still make a few hundred off the box!

Why did you bother posting this message if you have already decided?

Jesus saves, but Mario scores!!!

Ack sorry guys, guess I just blew my nice guy, never insult anyone rep here by calling this guy a jackass. But hey, at least you can say I give credit where credit is due!

you guys can do better than this...............
Nice try at playing it off snooky wooky, but we all know it must have hurt. You tried to impress everyone with your new Falcon and establish some instant cred with the forum, but all you got were insults instead of the oohs and aahs you were expecting. Too bad Falcon doesn't have a forum where you and all the other Falcon owners can beat off together, huh? Nobody here wanted to play your little game. Better luck at the next forum.

Oh and you had better PRAY that they dont make me a moderator.

Yeah, you're right about that. People suggested he would probably be better off building his own and then he started flinging insults.
