GF Pro v. MX

Ok, I'm looking for a cheap, high qulaity video card w/tv-out. So what I really want to know is this-Which performs better, the GeForce Pro w/DDR ram or the MX w/SDR ram? I realize that the MX is newer, but the memory is slower. These cards are priced the same.

There about equal.. if you overclock a GF2 MX- you'll get the same performance as a GeForce. I'd personally go with the GF2 MX.

PS, the GF2 MX does dual head and 2nd Gen. T&L too, something the old GeForce doesn't do.

Heh! And I'd go with the DDR card, although I don't know what the Pro is. *If* I remember right, I think the GeForce DDR starts pulling away from the MX once you reach 1024x768. If you only work below that, it shouldn't matter.

I'm not taking overclocking into account. I'd hunt out a few reviews, I think there might even be one on this site.

Without overclocking, the GeForce DDR is better in performance, but GeForce MX would save you some money.

WOW! I pay less for a GTS than they sell an MX for! Seriously, people, I can get an MX for $120 with dual monitor support AND S-Video out, or I can get a Geforce DDR card with S-Video out for about the same price.

BEFORE you Talk you might want to learn a bit and know what you are talking about ;)

there is about 7 gforce cards not just 2-3
the gforce pro is gforce 2gts/pro and runs about 400$
the gforce 256DDR is the old kind and will be under $200
the gforce mx is replacing the orginal gforce 256 SDR 120$
the gforce ultra is latest greatest for $500
a gforce2 gts is around 230-250 or so

Not to offend but about 4 posts in here are wrong, and i think people are confused, there is a couple newer topic in this forum that tell you what all the cards are in order of performance.

OK, boared tech. I was refering to the prices at ncix compared to REAL WORLD prices. I OWN a geforce 2 GTS from VisionTech w/32MB DDR and paid $159 at CompGeeks. I have no performance problems with this card, but I want a TV-OUT and am willing to sacrifice a little performance to get it. And the Geforce Pro I was talking about is NOT the GTS/PRO but the GF1 Pro, which I believe to be another name for the GF256 DDR. Specifically, I was looking at a Creative Blaster Anihilator Pro with 32MB DDR ram and TV out for $120. I am not well versed on all the original geforce cards, and was simply asking what the performance difference was between that card and the MX. I have not seen any camparisons between the two. And they both cost about $120 right now. NCIX is charging over $200 for the MX w/tv-out, over $200 for the DDR and, for comparison, over $400 for the GTS w/32MB (OUCH!). So my prices are OUTSTANDINGLY better. And I have plenty of experience with purchasing and pricing, which is what this whole discussion has turned to.

I suppose that you can just look at the site for ideas, right? There's no requirement for you to buy from anywhere, and no, I don't work there. (By the way, they have a pricematch system.)
