Why not MM? There should be one for every topic of Fermi. One for the arch, one for how late it is, one for features, etc. Hard to follow a thread that has all these rolled into one.

I've already commented n the other thread, I didn't see this one.

As neither of those games use Nvidia PhysX those cards have not been doing ah heck all if they are in the system as PhysX cards.

Sorry if i started a new thread for no reason :/. Its just i figured the topic i intended to discuss regarding NV's latest yields etc was quite specific and so warranted its own thread. Oh and microterf, good luck getting one of them, NV aren't expecting any more than 10,000 units to ship worldwide on release so get in a pre-order fast.

People said the same thing about the G80 core; how it was too big, how NVIDIA blew any chance of getting a DX10 card to the market, etc. We all know how THAT story ended...

Gamer, take a step back read what you have written?

Now take a look at the current situation?

Can you even see one similarity? I can't.

It isn't even the same as the roles are reversed, it is just completely unrelated.

😵 everyone needs to chill I think, nVidia's last fiscal year was profitable, this year is looking a bit grimmer but should be fine due to Tegra sales and Fermi. Everyone worries too much.

Fixed it for you, think R700/800

We knew more about the G80 in the same time frame than we know about Fermi now.
So, the surprise isnt there, W7 has been here for awhile now, DX11 has been here for awhile now, the 5xxx series has been here for awhile now, from top to bottom btw, which neither comany jumped ahead of the other back during the G80/R600 days, unlike now.
Games are being devved on R800 unlike R600, not like now either
Still no word, tho I did hear the first rumor of lil Fermis may have been taped out, which is still several months away then, so no, its nothing alike.
This time around, they didnt split DX11 because no one was ready for the full DX, unlike last time, theres just sooo much wrong with what you typed, it isnt funny

I am a bit worried about not hearing anything official about fermi coming close to release, one would like to think that they are like the nintendo of gpu makers and not allowing any "leaks" on things till reveal. But frankly doesn't seem like nvidia and their PR.

Either way we should see something in a month 😀 hopefully something great becuase everyone benefits from better price/performance ratios.

Nvidia’s chief executive officer did not provide any concrete timeframes for the transition of the whole lineup to the new Fermi architecture, but said that since the owners of mainstream and entry-level graphics cards hardly demand new functionality, it is not crucial for Nvidia to update currently available “fabulous” graphics chips. In addition, the speed of the transition depends on the supply of 40nm chips by TSMC.

“All of that just depends on 40 nm supply and we are trying to finesse it the best we possibly can. For the entry-level products, the truth is that the new architectures […] are probably not extremely well appreciated anyhow. People, who buy the new architectures, tend to be early adopters and they tend to be the game enthusiasts, workstation designers or creative artists or – there are very specific reasons why it really enhances their experience. Our current generation GPUs are fabulous and all the things that mainstream consumers would use their computer for. […] I think the mainstream GPUs are really fabulous and has been enhanced recently with some really great features and so my sense is that they are going to continue to do quite nicely in the marketplace. Then we will just transition as fast as we can,” said Mr. Huang.

Wont we be blessed when they become available, thats IF Jensen says I should want one or not

Does it matter anymore? He says that we dont need them anyways, so whats the difference? See how easy it is to explain it all? Just be thankful we can buy them, whatever their ability/name/age serial number etc heheh

I just quoted from that Article. I have not seen any other official numbers from Nvidea. But if it ends up being closer to 24 x 24 mm = 576 mm2. A rough calculation using the same density as ATI would give ca. 510 mm2. Which is somewhere betveen 22 and 23 mm square. But as it all looks right now, then tapeout of next gen. chips are due soon. So I think that indications are, that "Fermi for the masses" is not going to be before the end of the summer. And truth be told, they might just get away with it. It's a bit hard on the fan boys, though probably sensible. Altso next gen. is not 28nm, but we might see ATI 32nm SOI. The Evergreen IP is ported to SOI for the Llano chip (Fusion), so that is a possible. If that happens, then Nvidea's trobles are far from over. If you go back and look at AMD's rodmaps, then they all say 32nm graphics, not 32nm graphics on SOI though, but as GloFo. only makes 32nm SOI, and the IP is ported then...

....It isn't delayed until Q2, it will be released in Q1 in limited quantities, Q2 is just when they are expecting larger quantities to ship.

And considering how late into Q1 Fermi is going to release, that basically means a month afterwards... Everyone seems to like to read what they want to read from articles rather than reading what they say...
