Question Giga b250m-d3sh and i7 6700

I’m upgrading a PC for a friend. He upgraded the chip and GPU. I got the GPU switched and drivers downloaded with his current chip but when I go to switch to the new one (i7, 6700) I’m faced with either stuck in POST loop, boot to bios (seems random this far) or stuck on bios load screen...

The websites I’ve checked say that the i7 6700 doesn’t require a special bios flash. It’s compatible from stock..

What am I missing here?? Everything is double checked plugged. The led are on and working, all fans spinning.
Stuck with either cursor screen, bios load, or PoST loop.

update the bios anyway.
check what happens after that.


if that doesn't help, if you have another z170 (or whatever is compatible with that cpu) try to put it in a different board. maybe chip is toast.

I don’t have another board lying around. I’m just so confused why the CPU switch would cause such a dilemma when it is compatible without updates. I checked before we bought it too.

Just very frustrated at this point. The computer boots fine, switch chips and I can barely access the bios
