Gigabyte 1280MB GTX 570 vs EVGA 1280MB GeForce GTX 570 HD

I'm wondering which one would offer better cooling and a better gaming experience out of the Gigabyte and EVGA GTX 570s. They are both £192 so price is not an issue.

It will be going into a HAF 912 case with all in case fans attached and good cable management. I'm having a hard time finding comparisons between these two specific cards so would appreciate a little help in choosing. Many thanks

The Gigabyte card would run cooler because of the aftermarket cooler and would allow you to OC further than the EVGA having the reference cooler. Your tower has good airflow so either card would work fine.

2.5gb???? Those cards are half that apiece, even in SLI does not double the VRAM.....

The GTX 480 is not a bad alternative either. It will run warmer though but has a bit more VRAM for games and high resolution monitors.

You should be fine with that PSU. The Gigabyte card would allow more OC headroom, my vote is the Gigabyte card.

The GTX 480 is not a bad alternative and has .25gb more VRAM than those GTX 570's. It's about 1% slower than the 570 out the box for reference 480's but they do OC nicely, but then again, they will output more heat.

I never actually considered the GTX 480.
Am I right in thinking that the extra memory would be of less benefit than the extra heat? An overclocked 570 must be cooler than a overclocked 480? I might be being a noob though

I would stay away from the HD model unless you absolutley NEED the shorter PCB. I used to have it and its so loud its unreal. The little 560 cooler its sporting just cant keep up with the 570 chip unfortunatly and i was even using it in a HAF X case. Any reason your not going AMD? the HD 7850 is an excellent card as is the HD 7870, both with 2gb vram onboard.

Yes, a GTX 570 will be cooler than a 480 regardless of being stock clocks or OC'ed.

With Nvidia GPU's, you have the benefit of PhysX that AMD cards do not have.

Thanks, I think I will go with the Gigabyte GTX 570 I'm upgrading from a 9800gtx+ so it will be a pretty big leap anyway
