Hey guys, I just built a new system which consists of a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard, e8400, 4 GB GSkill, 500GB SATA and a Radeon 4870. I'm using the onboard sound but everytime I start certain programs the sound stutters. I've tried Gigabytes website drivers, the drivers on the CD and the drivers from Realtek's site. No matter which I use I still get the stutter. Any ideas?

What OS are you running?

I've got a question for you too. I'm currently building my PC using the same mobo EP45T-UD3P. Does your CPU fan run constantly or it stops after few seconds when you switch on the PC and then runs when CPU gets hot? My fan stops and I'm worried I could damage it so I switch it off. I'm not getting anything on the display 🙁

Where would I check the BIOS settings?
Remember my display isn't coming on so can't go into bios.

you probably did an express install. it installs the ati sound and it always interferes with whatever sound you want to use. uninstall ALL ati stuff and start from scratch. do a custom install and do not select the sound portion off the disc or from the driver download. if you don't want or need the CCC control panel, download the driver only.

try and find drive cleaner to remove ALL ati stuff and do it again.

you can also look in the control panel/sound and make sure everything points to the on board sound device.

or/and you could look in the device manager and see what's going on there.........

Brodie. I've got display working and I even disabled Auto CPU fan function in BIOS but it still wasn't working.
Anyway then I just plugged it in the Sys_fan2 which has got same 4 connector and its working constantly now. I don't know if its the CPU Fan connector which isn't working or if its some other BIOS setting.
Any idea anyone?

Yea, it happens no matter what player I'm using. The biggest problem program seems to be Easy Tune 6. I'm not using any anti-virus, but this is a fresh Vista install. Corsair 850 watt PSU and Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 Hard Drive.

I think if I don't figure anything out today I'm just going to format and reinstall Vista, when I install the ATI driver I'll keep an eye out for the sound feature. Thanks for the idea Swifty.

That's weird, mine is plugged into the CPU Header on the mobo and it doesn't ever stop, just lowers to 800 RPM or so when I'm running cool. I have Auto CPU enabled in BIOS too. If anything check out this forum, they have a lot of info on our mobo. http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/

Hi Bondie, thanks for your advise and giving me the link to that useful website.
I'm just really concerned about the temperature of my nvidia 8400GS PCI-E graphics card now. The temperature went up to 96 degree celcius while browsing net and downloading windows update which is quite extreme I think.
The card doesn't have a cooling fan. I'm thinking I'll return it and would get one with cooling fan. What you guys would suggest?
I don't play games so the only graphics intensive app I would ever run is Photoshop & Illustrator.

That is pretty warm for just that. Does your case have good air flow?

Brodie or someone else, does anyone here know how to connect an internal speaker with this MOBO? I just can't figure it out. Been through the whole manual and even looked online but just can't find any pins on mobo which are there to do this task! I like having internal speaker because when PC doesn't boot up those beeps help a great deal in troubleshooting the issue. Thanks once again.

Many thanks shortstuff. I've got an internal speaker from a P4 machine and that one has got 2 connector switch on it so I was looking for 2 connectors and not 4 oops!
Now would that 2 connector switch do the job or shall I get a new speaker?
I tell you without these forums I wouldn't had got where I am today. Love em!
