Okay guys so here it is,

I recently bought a brand new gaming computer with these specs;
GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 Motherboard, 3.6GHz AMD FX 4100 Quad Core Bulldozer Processor, 1GB nVidia Geforce GT 620 Graphics Card, 500GB HDD Hard Drive / 8GB DDR3 RAM.
There was no Operating System included, however I was told that was not a major issue. So I downloaded Windows 7 Professional 64bit and booted it to my USB drive. I began the installation process, which worked until I was asked for a partition to install Windows to. I checked the error message which told me that Windows required additional drivers to access the hard disk. I began to check out different forums, until I found this one:

The problem seemed similar, so I also downloaded drivers for my model. When I tried to boot them using IDE I was unsuccessful, so I went BIOS and changed IDE to ACHI. This time Windows recognized the driver software, however still wouldn't install it. Also the HDD seems to be fine, BIOS is picking it up and nothing seems out of the ordinary with it. I have tried everything I can think of, and that's not really much, I would really appreciate some help with this.

When Windows is launching the installation, there's a short period of time where you can press F6 to load additional drivers (you can put the drivers on a USB key, must be connected before the boot for the Windows installer to detect it). Get the latest drivers from Gigabyte for your disk controller and load them using this method and see if it fixes things.

*** Update:

Here are the latest drivers for your mobo:

Just get the "AHCI" drivers and make sure your BIOS is in AHCI too. The driver is only 0.28MB, AHCI is the mode that should get the best performance out of your disk. Gigabytes says to press F6 and load from floppy, but it also works with USB key. As I said make sure the USB key is connected before you boot the PC to make sure the Windows installer picks it up.

Well I did try that, I tried pressing F6 during setup, which gave me a browser. I had the AHCI on and Windows picked up on the driver, I then clicked the driver. There was a small loading bar which appeared for a couple of seconds and I was then brought back to the page where my hard disk should show up, however it didn't so perhaps I have done it wrong?
***UPDATE
When I see a black screen with a white bar and I see "Windows loading files" then do I press F6?

Okay so I am trying this right now, once again no response. I have got The SATA set to AHCI, I have got the drivers in my USB, however when I try to load the driver it fails. Could this be because the folder is located in the same USB as the boot?

I remember I had to do this often on older OS like XP or Windows Server 2003, but since Vista and 7 I never had to load disk controller drivers again during setup. Looks like it's even easier with 7 you don't even have to press F6, when you get to the part where it's asking you what hard drive to install Windows on (where you can also partition and format it), there's a "Load Driver" option in the lower left corner of the Window. Look at the following image:

If it still doesn't work with the latest drivers from Gigabyte I would contact Gigabyte technical support and ask them to provide a proper driver.

Yes this is where I am stuck exactly, once I do that and I pick a driver from the folder on my USB it displays it on my screen. Then it tries to load it, however it brings back to that same screen saying there are no drivers.

When you click on "Load Driver" does it let you browse the USB key for a folder where you've put the driver? Or does it let you select the .inf file?

If so, I guess the fact that the Windows installation is also on the USB key shouldn't make any difference. Really have no idea why the driver is not working. Maybe you could try with an older driver, maybe the one that came with your mobo CD if the version is different from the website. If it still doesn't work as suggested before contact Gigabyte support and ask them for a proper driver.

Yes it gives me a .inf file when i access the folder marked W764A. Also the disk that came along with it is a utility disk that just runs a rebooter and backup utility. I will immediately contact Gigabyte about this issue as it is beyond ridiculous now, and I am all out of ideas

I had the same problem. Trying to remember how to fix it...

Try plugging your USB HDD in a different slot on the computer. I think that is what solved it for me, or you can also try to download a different ISO to use.

Hey everyone, a solution has been found and I would like to declare that this issue is solved! 😀

So what happened was this; I contacted the seller, who told me to use SHIFT+ F10 to activate command prompt. Then enter 'diskpart' once that loaded they then said to enter select disk 0. This selects your hard disk. Then type 'clean', this cleans the hard disk and removes any bad sectors etc. Type in exit twice, refresh the page and then you will see your hard disk
