Hi,
So this morning I started my PC and it booted straight to BSOD. (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) This hadn't happened for some time, but I wasn't worried because its not unusual, although I thought it odd on boot. But then after reboot it wouldn't boot.
I started with the components trying to eliminate possible problematic hardware. I switched out the PSU, and booted with motherboard/cpu/ram/video card. (POE with gpu, ram) Still wouldn't boot. At this point i'm thinking it's an issue with the motherboard or bios. After about two hours of tinkering I managed to access the BIOS. fairly frustrated at this point, as I had already spent hours trying to fix the issue and had a days work planned, I existed the BIOS and was greeted with the Q-FLASH UTILITY SCREEN. I read somewhere that It could be a good idea to update the bios so i took the plunge and I referred to gigabytes manual that said to use the Q-Flash Utility should this screen appear. I followed the instructions in their manual correctly, and now I'm sitting with a white (could be light grey) screen. I'm hesitant to do anything as I understand it can be detrimental, however I'm unsure if it's actually doing anything or even updating? my machine seems to be in the same idle state that it was before (only before it was a black screen after pushing the on button). Been waiting about an hour now.
tl;dr - white screen after "clicking" update bios after receiving q-flash screen.
I guess my question is now, what should I do? Has my motherboard just reached the end of it's life? It's about 6/7 years old.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
- John
