Gigabyte H81M-DS2V and i5 cpu

So, i have H81M-DS2V mobo and G3258@4.5GHz and was wondering if that thing Gigabyte calls vrm can handle an i5.

So, has anyone here used a mobo like mine and i5 succesfully? I was thinking something like 4570 or 4590.

Thank you for your answer. Yes, I'm aware that this board supports basically any Haswell chip but I was just wondering can it really handle them.

I found cheap 4570 with TDP of 84W. Any idea how much does it draw with full load? When I run Intelburntest with my overclocked G3258 AIDA shows 70-75W.

My i5-4590 shows 90W (I use Intel XTU to monitor it) while running Prime95 28.5 Small FFTs. How much power does your overclocked G3258 draw while running P95 Small FFTs for a minute or two?

Package TDP 75W, Core TDP was 58W. I don't know whats the difference between those two but if you were talking about package TDP that doesn't sound too bad. Maybe undervolting the cpu it might go even lower.

Package TDP probably is what XTU calls total TDP. Why are you worried about the VRM? Your case offers really poor ventilation and you fear that it will get too hot?

I'm just used to good overclocking mobos. Right now saving money and decided to go with budget style and was just worried how weak vrm seems. But hell, I'm trying to get that 4570 or something similar. Thank you for your help!

You can't overclock with that motherboard; therefore it doesn't need a powerful VRM.

Well basically I can overclock with this board, just like I OCd my Pentium, it's just very limited. But I'm not planning to do that with i5 (and yes, I know it's not possible with non-K model).

I could swear I saw someone trying to oc K-model. But that really doesn't matter any way.

That was with an i7-4770K, not an i5. There are no issues with a top-down blower style like the stock Intel cooler; only when using a tower cooler like the 212 Evo that doesn't blow air over the VRM area (an issue that's much worse that that with inexpensive AMD motherboards and an 8-core FX CPU). You could add a small fan to cool the VRM if you are worried.
