Gigabyte R9 290x Low FPS

So I recently bought a Gigabyte R9 290x Windforce as the tittle suggests. When I installed the card I was disappointed in the performance I was getting in most games.
One game in particular that I play non-stop on my 7970 is quite unplayable now on my R9 290x.

The thing that is concerning to me is the price that I payed for something that is around the same and less on one game in particular?

Can anyone suggest anything for the FPS issues?

My specs are:
Intel i5 2500 @ 3.30ghz
Gigabyte R9 290x 4GB GDDR5
8gb DDR3 RAM
128gb SSD
2TB HDD

Yes, I have the correct ones. I have also tried uninstalling the old drivers with DDU and have even gone as far as to uninstall windows. Still no fix.

Which PSU do you have? Maybe that's the problem here.

Most likely it is psu or gpu throttling issue.

install msi afterburner and check temps while playing.

Post back with max temps.

Which PSU do you have? Maybe that's the problem here.

My PSU is an Antec 650w.
