Hey guys,

After a few weeks browsing around I think I have the bets budget build possible for myself.

I plan on mostly gaming and doing statistical analysis for some of my classes. Will this be a pretty good gaming rig. Mainly looking to max games like the Witcher 2, BF3, and other upcoming games.

Please, any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.

It would be nice to have some sort of support behind this decision to spend this much money LOL.

they have been going in and out of stock constantly in the past few days. my guess is that they are trying to deplete those boards, as i believe the z68xp-ud3 is intended to replace the z68x-ud3, just as the z68xp-ud3p has replaced the z68x-ud3p (what a great naming system). i believe the only difference is added virtu support with an hdmi.

So do you think that it is still worth the buy? Is there another motherboard combo that would be great for gaming?

i DO think its worth the buy. i think its the best deal available, because you dont need virtu support. im sorry to confuse you, my point was that you should be vigilant because i believe they will run out completely and the opportunity will be gone.

Can anyone give me a suggestion on the video card? I was actually thinking of getting the 6870 since its like 100 bucks cheaper but then its only a 2 year warranty.

Any suggestions?

id go for a gtx 560 ti right now based on value. this card will easily overclock to 900mhz (and beyond), has a similar performance/price ratio to the 6870, and comes with a lifetime warranty. imo if there are two cards with similar performance/price you should get the better one:

again, dont be afraid to overclock this card. it wants to be set free. if your nervous you could buy a factory overclocked model, but people seem to have zero problems at 900mhz (the factory OC'd version is the same card overclocked to 900mhz, with some additional software)

there are also these combos (good factory OC'd 560 ti's) but since you already have a combo with the i5, you wouldnt really be saving any money:
