Does anyone have recommendations for an SSD that's fast and would last a while? I think longevity is my main priority.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure what m.2 or sata means. Are you going with m.2 or sata?
But either way SSDs these days will last much longer than your typical computer user will use their system. I mean you will be upgrading before the SSD dies.
BTW-if you are going with m.2 there are a few different flavors with major differences.
Alright, thank you for the advice. You want m.2 Nvme with your Asus Prime B450-M mobo. They are slightly higher than 2.5 SSD,but much faster.
Watch this video and come back with any questions.

Do you have any good m.2 SSDs you'd recommend? I'm looking at the prices and after watching the video I think it might be more worth my money to go for a SATA. the m.2s I've seen so far are vastly more expensive. You want m.2 Nvme with your Asus Prime B450-M mobo. if there's no noticeable difference with games, then an m.2 just seems superfluous for my purposes. On this system I have a 1 TB Samsung 870 Evo Sata SSD,which is fast (around 550 MB/sec).
My OS is on a Western Digital SN530 m.2 512GB SSD. This is twice as fast as the SATA 1TB Samsung. This came with the system.
Twice as fast as the Western Digital m.2 is my TeamGroup 2TB m.2 Nvme. I have a PCIe adapter and it is sloted into a PCIe port. This thing is blazing!
I would recommend anyone of those companies/products.
You could buy a small, fast m.2 and put just your OS on it and a large Sata drive like I did.
This setup would work great. It does for me.
(I was planning on moving the OS to the fastest drive-the 2TB Teamgroup m.2,but keeping the OS on the smaller and "slower" 512 m.2 is more than fast enough).
If the SSD will be used for games, you will not know the difference between running off a SATA SSD and a m.2 SSD.

I've found one I think may be a good choice: https://www.newegg.com/samsung-2tb-870-evo-series/p/N82E16820147794?quicklink=trueOK.
If games are your main concern, then yep-save yourself some cash.
