It's not overkill.. Its market dynamic.. I have a 700 watts psu that I purchased last year thinking that I will not go for some SLI or xFire.. now I wish I had a 800 watts PSU for I am now stuck such that the power is overkill for a single GPU and very low for a multi gpu..

I am suggesting purely on the basis of my experience..

No, your build would not use anything close to 600w. Plus your PSU is good for about 780w. Quality units are always mis-labeled as lower wattage on purpose. At 700w your PSU will be 100% within ATX spec, even though with 2 7950s you will never come close to that. http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/Corsair-GS700-Bronze-Power-Supply-Review/1617/9

Your CPU= 125w at full load
a 7950= 150w FULLY OVERCLOCKED or 130w stock at full load. x2

Your system probably will never even touch 550w under full load with two 7950s.

People run 2 7950s on 650w all day. 700w is more than enough. They say 700w minimum as an insurance for people who have JUNK PSUs. 700w is perfectly safe for 2 7950s. Don;t worry.

You can run this on 700w with overclocking and have room to spare.

I did run a stress test and my CPU + GPU consumes about 460 watts :S

just the CPU its at 250 watts.. thus the GPU consuming 200 watts..

so.. if I add another 200 watts to the 460, it would be 660 watts.. agreed below 700.. but a 700 watts PSU won't supply 700 watts, it supplies about 650 right??

If you add another GPU to your system the MOST is can add is 138w, NOT 200. Also, that 250w value is so incorrect. There is no physical way your CPU uses 250w. It is physically impossible. Wattage readings are never accurate unless you measure with a kill-a-watt device.

Also, no you are incorrect. A 700w PSU delivers 700w at 80% efficient. Did you even click my link. It shows your PSU providing 787w and still being 80+BRONZE efficient.

I promise an accurate measure of your system will show, with 2 7950s will never go over 600w. You are 10000% in the clear.
