I am an almost complete noob at computer specs (I'd say 4/10 on knowledge). I bought a prebuilt because I was too lazy to build one a few months back (bit me in the ass, but only by about $50 xD). My specs aren't horrible, but I am upgrading it to prepare for BF4 and future titles. I'm hitting the 30fps on lowest settings stage of my Starter PC's life already, so i need an upgrade.
Keep in mind, my goal is to set up a system that can run any game at at least 30fps on low settings in the future. I'm looking at a 4-5 year upgrade, or the next gen consoles lifetime if possible 😉. I'm also a budget gamer.
Okay, I plan on upgrading my CPU to an FX-8350, my Psu to a 750w-850w (possibly 1000w for Crossfire), and my Gpu to either an 7950/7970 or Radeon's upcoming 9000 series (depending on their release price and specs). I already have 16GB (2x8Gb) ddr3 Ram @1333 that I have no intention in upgrading, so almost any board meets that stipulation
Now for the core of my question? What's a great future-proof Motherboard that can support crossfire gpu's, the upcoming 9000 series, some Windows 8 compatability (not happy about it either :/), all with good dependable quality, under ($180)? I don't want any trash boards, I want a mid-range board at least. I don't want any scrappy board that will break down on me and possibly damage my brand new parts.
As for my browsing, I've been focusing on the fx-8350 compatability and crossfire support (in case I go for 2 cheap 7950's). My main concern is that I will blow more money than I need to on a MOBO, when I still need it to upgrade the rest of my PC. (sabertooth may be overkill?)
I've been eyeing these:
Asus 990FX AM3+ Pro

Asus 990X AM3+ EVO

I'm not goin for crazy OC'ing, I want a board that can handle an FX-8350 in turbo (4.3) and possibly crossfired 7950's or single 9000 series, that will hold up for years to come. I currently have a Gigabyte 760g microATX with my fx-6100, and it runs well, but I've heard bad things about the 970 and 990 gigabyte MOBO's. Are they that unreliable, or would they be the ideal board for me?
Sorry for the heavy explanation and its length, but I'm new to MOBO shopping, and want to avoid any DOA's and RMA's if possible. Thanks 😉
