[SOLVED] good to install optional updates?

Hi, this is just a minor question. Every now and then an "optional update" would appear.

for example, this one.



do you guys install these updates or not?

they don't seem to do any harm, so I was installing them whenever they become available.

Its odd a CU from April is still a preview.

You would get it in 2 weeks on Update Tuesday so its your choice.

I've had no problems, with either Win 10 or 11.

Or, you can wait until it is out of the "Preview" stage, and rolled into an actual release.

As always, have a known good backup and know how to recover.

anything provided with the "optional" updates will eventually be provided with the next cumulative.

i always thought more of the early preview versions as a way for users to troubleshoot any possible issue that the next cumulative may cause and save MS the trouble of doing it themselves.

thanks for the replies everyone.

from now on as a safety precaution.. I would install optional updates first on newest pc, since it's SSD only has games and windows - not much to lose if something goes wrong. Then if things go well, would then proceed to install the optional updates on my two older pc.
