I don't know where to put this thread, so please move it if its in the wrong place.

So I'm using goodsync to keep a folder in sync with a folder on my FTP server, sort of like dropbox. So the other day I went to do the initial sync. I found out that it was going to take 70 hours to sync my 5k pictures. Hell no! So I copied it to a thumb drive and placed the files in the proper directories on the server. When I came back to goodsync "5k file conflicts" since its over 30% change its disabled auto sync so I cant use it properly till this is fixed. The only way I know how to fix this is to sync my left folder over top of my right folder. Yet that will also take 70 hours. The files are identical, is there a way I can tell goodsync to ignore the conflicts? Or how can I avoid having to wait for 70 hours to use my bloody ftp server. Any legitimate help is appreciated.

Well, at least I know you actually did use it since it's pretty darn ugly. :)

It's odd that they all show the same problem. Are the dates and times for last modified different on the machines? Allway sync should be looking at the file contents though and i think it mostly ignores the time stamps of files.

So I think two other ways to try it would be to copy the files to a USB stick, then sync them to the source machine, and then sync them to the backup machine, then try syncing from source directly to backup. Alternatively just sync them to the USB stick instead of just copy and then copy them on the backup server and then try the sync from source to backup.

I can't think of what's tripping it up unless the FTP link is wrong or something so it can't find any of the files on the backup machien when it goes to sync so it just starts dumping them all assuming they aren't there. Does Allway sync say it needs to update all 5k files or does it say it has 5k new files?

Yes the dates are different, its weird cause all I did was copy and paste to a usb and move it to the server. Its just saying "Questionable files" whatever that means, and when I try to sync there it goes syncing all 5k of them.

I'm gonna try blasting through all of those with the "Ignore all" button. See if that helps. LOL its funny how I thought the hard part would be setting up the server, not using it.

Apologies for the necro and if I am breaking any rules. I had the same issue as the OP and when I googled, it brought me to this thread. I finally found the answer so this is for anyone else who finds this.

Solution:
- Perform Analyze
- Select Other -> SameLength DiffTime to view file with same length and different file modification time,
- Right-click middle of the Top node in the tree and select Copy Time L to R or R to L .
- Sync: only file modification time will be copied in the selected direction, not file bodies.
