I absolutely agree with this and am amazed facebook hasn't done this. Really you need to compartmentalize. I have college friends. I have family. I have current friends. All different target demographics and need didn't information. Really you should be able to post something and tag it with what groups should have access. So the party pictures don't get pushed to work colleagues and family. But everyone else gets them. It can't be that difficult. Make the default all like currently and your power users will use it where everyone else who doesn't care won't.
