So in other words, UNTIL MANAGERIAL STAFF AT JOBS ARE ACTUALLY HELD RESPONSIBLE with a REAL PUNISHMENT (aka get fired) no company deserves the trust of the people. The U.S. Government has lost that trust nation wide. They even tried paying everyone money and they still lost that trust. it will NEVER be returned... it's only a matter of time before the u.s. finally gets taken over by it's own people. HISTORY NOTE: THe U.S. is the ONLY ONLY ONLY democracy in the world that hasn't been over run by its people throughout history.

Translation: You post your shit on our shit, and we can use your shit for whatever shit we deem useful to us.

Translation-translation: We're Google. We like your shit. It sustains us. NOM NOM NOM!

I love how everyone saying how evil Google is has nothing to back up their claims. The best that they do is make broad claims that can be used against any organization (private or governmental). Talk about from the fringe of society. Reality check: Every organization, corporation, business, government, ect., are all collecting and using data provided by you. There are businesses that do it for business: buying, selling, and trading data. Its called analytics. Your data is out there and you need to get over it. Its been going on since business came into being and a need to organize customer information became necessary. Governments have more personal information that Google does (full name, social security number (a government system), income, taxes, birth information, addresses, crime records, credit scores, medical information, EVERYTHING.) So, lets all calm down, put both feet on the ground, and act rationally. Google is not out to harm you.

I don't think it's that simple. One of the reasons they store user data is to they can provide relevant data when a search is made. A word/phrase means different things to different people. And, you can give more accurate search results when you know a little about the person searching. The downside to this is that they can use this data for other things.

Google has tried to be transparent with how it uses its data to an extent. And, now with Google getting into cellphones, emails, etc it's one company serving many of your needs. While Google may not misuse the data now, no one can guarantee it won't happen in the future. And, the German Wifi incident has only caused more mistrust.

Although, I must say Google has improved every field it has gotten into - search, webmail, etc.

I'm glad this thought occured to you, because if you connected the dots, you would see that Google is pretty much a puppet at this point. A very well paid puppet.

sure why not? think about it...google runs the WWW...i think just about everything goes through their search servers. I don't see why they can't be trusted...been using them for sometime now and never had problems. if you are that paranoid then just unplug your damn computer from the web and start using the newspaper and snail mail again 😛

I dont think that they are altruistic and I did not even receive one cent from them. but do you have any evidence of what you said? What make you think like that about google ? I am sorry I am not pro , I didnt see anything bad in them, learn me please.
Just do not forget that destroying something is easy but making is so hard.

Not really. Every last horrid thing you've searched on google is stored in their databanks for a nine month minimum. Currently, they are content, so they have no reason to use that information to blackmail us. But if something WERE to happen, that much blackmail would enable them to bend the world to their will. I'm currently using a computer that uses Google Chrome (not mine,) so to drive them crazy I'm running my searches through Bing.
