Got W-10 invite on desktop but not on 8.1 laptop

Before the launch of Windows 10, both my desktop and laptop were running 8.1. I got the Windows 10 invite on the desktop and upgraded the desktop to 10. The invite has not shown up on the laptop. I do use the same gmail account on both computers. Maybe it's irrelevant, but I have noticed that when I change the slideshow on the 8.1 laptop, my Windows 10 desktop plays the same slideshow as the laptop automatically. Same slideshow, but not the same photos at the same time. Do either of those things have anything to do with not getting the Windows 10 upgrade on the laptop. One more thing, the desktop is wired to the router, the laptop is wireless to the same router. Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

W10 invite is one of Windows updates. Make sure you installed all updates and no updates failed. Look at your update history and find the number of update that offered Get Win 10 icon. Also it has 2 other mandatory supportive updates that have to be installed.

I would not even worry about the icon. Find Media Creation tool on Microsoft web site to create DVD or install Win 10 on demand any time.

It could be that your laptop has not received the update to get the invite. You can force update the laptop through windows update though.

Thank you, Astralv. I did make sure the updates were current on both computers, but neglected to say that in my post. Indeed, the Media Creation tool solved the problem and Windows 10 is up and running on the laptop now. I did not have a blank DVD, nor a thumbdrive, so I used a blank SD card and my USB SD card reader to load the W-10 install file. I appreciate your help. Thank you again.
