Hey again everyone, Just ordered a 970 back plate and I'm looking to paint it. Not even the whole thing, About half of it in a design. Now here's my question. Can I just use my spray paint that I already have? It's a good quality one, it's just not high-temp paint like some people say that you need. I just sort of find that ridiculous seeing as the high-temp is meant for like 900-1200 degrees, not the mayyyybe 100 degrees it'll be exposed to in my rig. I have several case fans and everything is very cool. So am I able to use my regular spray paint? Just painting some of the top, not the whole thing. High-temp is $17 a can plus tax, that's not worth it when I've already overpaid for a piece of metal for my graphics card, so if I cant use my regular paint I'll just throw that dream away.

Yes! but remember to disassemble the whole card and mask off the inside of the plate to avoid drips getting on the inside and allowing a short. I've painted the back plate of my Sapphire 7970 vapor-X 6gb and it was easy, but just be aware of overspray.

No, youll be fine using the paint you have. If youre concerned about it get something called Plasti-Dip. It is basically like rubber and you can spray it on hot things. You can also scrape it off if you mess up or want to do a new design.

It also comes off looking like normal paint.

Why would he have to do that?? He said he ordered the backplate, so it will come seperatly from the card...

Ok, good to hear and Oh no no, I will NOT be spraying it while it's on the card. I'll be spraying it when it arrives in the mail before I put it on the GPU. Ah, I couldnt imagine spraying my $440 970 itself. I'd probably cry. Haha. And thanks again, I do know of plasti dip because I work at a store that sells it. Only thing is that at $25 a can, It'd be cheaper to buy the heat paint if NEED be. (Canadian price problems eh?)

WHAT THATS OUTRAGEOUS!!! 25 FREAKING DOLLARS FOR PLASTI DIP!!!!

I buy it for $7 at the local owned hardware store and they usually have high prices.

It is outrageous, truly is. Especially considering $25 for us in out money is about $30 in your language. Stupid, to put it lightly. And oh, I bet. There's no shortage of stupid in this world and you cant fix that unfortunately.
