GPU crash causes loss of display, but PC is on, all fans are spinning and lights are on.
I've tried all fixes.

PC Specifications:
Mobo: MSI B450 Tomahawk (MS-7C02)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600x (6 Cores) with WraithSpire Cooler
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 - 6GB
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4-3200 2x8GB
PSU: Cooler Master MWE 750 Gold V2
OS: Windows 11 (with latest updates)

So my PC was working fine, longer gaming and coding sessions were smooth and efficient no problem whatsoever. But one day (25th september) my PC crashed while I was playing Dota2, it was not a full shutdown but only no display. I didn’t pay any attention and just restarted it and started playing again. Then after 10 minutes it crashed again the same way.

Then I restarted and started playing again and it didn't crash that day. Next day I start PC but not showing any display but CPU fans, PC lights, Keyboard/mouse lights are lit. Then I noticed a red led on motherboard which read VGA. I checked online and found solution, i removed cmos battery and drained the static charge by holding power button and then PC started. But then it started crashing every hour the same way. I started looking for solutions and found so many solutions online and till now I have applied all of them but they did not fix the issue. So now my PC is behaving as follows:

1. Will work 4-5 days no issue then suddenly crashes.
2. After the crash it wont boot up for about 60-80 minutes, no matter how many times I clear CMOS etc.
3. It will show a solid red ez debug led on the motherboard.
4. Then again it will work fine for 1-2 days and cycle repeats.

It will crash during gaming, during firefox/chrome uses but audio plays in background, sometimes just at windows login screen it will crash. And while it crashed I can guess the shutdown. I mean I can alt+f4 several times and press enter and it will shut down.

What I tried (compiled list of solutions found online):
  • Remove MS xbox overlay/gamebar
  • Xbox spotify service
  • Increase TDR values in registry
  • Underclock GPU using MSI afterburner
  • Track GPU and CPU temps (within limits)
  • Disabled hardware virtualization
  • Reseat GPU
  • Change PSU to GPU cable
  • Change thermal paste
  • Memtest RAM (also bought new kit of RAM)
  • Plug power cable directly to wall socket
  • Reinstalled windows (2 times win11 and 1 time win10 also)
  • Updated bios (also tried to use previous one)
  • GPU driver updated to latest after DDUing current one.
  • Used 4-5 previous GPU drivers.

But none of them helped me and my PC is just crashing the same way.

Some said it's PSU, some said GPU, some said RAM/CPU etc. but when it works it works like the way it's expected. I mean super fast while coding and building, ultra graphics in games with smoother FPS.

At this point I am not sure what to do, which component could be causing the issue.

Below are the error logs I found in the event viewer.

  1. Error 1:
    1. Fault bucket , type 0
    2. Event Name: LiveKernelEvent
    3. Response: Not available
    4. Cab Id: 0
  2. Error 2:
    1. Fault bucket 1269686843807976551, type 4
    2. Event Name: APPCRASH
    3. Response: Not available
    4. Cab Id: 0
    5. Problem signature:
    6. P1: dwm.exe
  3. Error 3: The Desktop Window Manager process has exited. (Process exit code: 0x000000ff, Restart count: 8, Primary display device ID: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060)
  4. Error 4: The description for Event ID 14 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

Note: Let me know if any other info you guys need, I will be providing.

try the gpu in a different system and/or try a different GPU in your system

could be the motherboard as well

have a look at the hardware if you can find a smoked/exploded component like Elko capacitors or any other

it´s clearly a hardware fault, you will have to replace one by one to figure out which one

Yes I checked for any smoke or smokey smell but all seems fine. Could not smell any smoke even if PC is running.
What I am wondering is if its hardware fault then how come PC is working fine for like 3-4 days without any crash?
Should I get Mobo and GPU repaired from service center? Because all my PC components are out of warranty now.

Edit: I have got my GPU repaired at service center, but after 10 since when I received the repaired GPU the problem started happening again. I have now no single clue for why its happening. Should I get Motherboard, PSU and CPU replaced/repaired also?

Edit: I Sent my GPU to repair center again, and this time they said that its BGA chip is broken and needs to be replaced and the cost is around $269.66.
I have asked them to return it un-repaird. Now looking for buying a new GPU.

Thanks everyone for thier time and inputs.
