GPU fans spin every few seconds then pause. My previous GPU never did this.

Hi. I've searched fans whirring but haven't found my specific issue, although that's probably my searching as it must have come up before.

I recently installed a Gigabyte GV-N960OC-4GD PCI Express Graphics Card.

Everything seems fine except the fan goes on and off constantly. It's not very noisy but it's hard to think. Like how it's difficult to work when somebody is tapping.

I'd prefer it be constant. My previous fan did not do this. Is this normal? Is there any way to control it?

Thanks for any help.

Thank you for finding me that thread. I realise it's silly now but I didn't search for my specific card when I was searching for solutions, just searched in general. :|

Ok so:
"I saw a guy in the Gigabyte forums with the same card who had the same issue. Much of anything under 40% fan power and you'll hear the fans surge loudly. Over 40% power and it seems fine."

"EDIT: Oc GURU is doing nothing when I try to change fan settings manually. MSI Afterburner is actually working well. Set up a fan curve. It seems that if I don't keep the fan running above 45%, the fans will surge over 10,000 RPM! Keeping the fans running at 50% thru 60 degrees, and going up from there seems to level everything off."

So what you've said basically, although I will try the OC GURU first since the other program apparently doesn't autorun like it should, plus it's one more program to run. Also hopefully since somebody fixed it by updating to a beta BIOS I can do that myself when it's no longer beta. Maybe. :|
