Question GPU fans spinning but no display. Integrated graphics works fine?

So I just built a PC. The graphics card fans spin and stay on while the PC is being used. Only integrated graphics show a display and allow me to successfully use Windows. However, I get no display when the same cable is plugged into the GPU.
The GPU doesn't show up in the task manager, and I can't find any info about it in the bios.
I cant even install drivers directly from nvidia website because it says no nvidia graphics is installed in the computer.

GPU seems to be properly installed; all cables seem properly installed.
I tried setting the primary display in BIOS to PCIE, but after saving and exiting it resets back to auto and goes back to using integrated graphics.
Ram is set to A1 & B2

Specs:
Asus P8Z77-V LE Plus
Gigabyte GTX 1660 Super
Intel I7 2600K
650W MSI 80+ Bronze Power Supply'
16 GB, 1600 MHz, Patriot Signature RAM 2x8

Any help would be much appreciated! I just made this PC and haven't installed drivers yet, but with all the PCs I've built, I've never had this issue.

Try reseat the card and also try 2nd pcie slot to rule out something maybe being wrong with top pcie slot or maybe video cable being blocked a little by case since it's up the top sometimes if video plug is too big can interfere with case.

Bios updated to the latest 2014 version i see from Asus website?

Pcie slot provides power, enough for fans to spin, double check pcie supplementary power is indeed fully in.

Why is first memory in A1? Should be A2, unless that a typo.

I did make the mistake of placing the ram in A1 instead of A2. While inside the case, I reseated the GPU and PCIE cable. I also removed CMOS and held the power button for 20 seconds.
I then plugged in the power cable with the display port cable plugged into the GPU, then turned on the PC. Instant boot and display. It took me straight into bios, no issues. PC works exactly how it should now.

Thank you! Hopefully some others find this helpful as well.

Hi, I'm having some troubles again. After the success, I downloaded gpu and mobo drivers and some games and software after attempting a Windows update and being concerned over 100% disk usage and 100% CPU usage in not demanding games. I went to restart the PC.

But... I didn't get any display again. So I plugged the display cable into the mobo and got a display using integrated graphics. Im not currently doing the clear Cmos thing again.

How do I stop this from happening again? Would you recommend a bios update?

Did you do a clean wipe of the previous graphic driver using DDU? Might be some driver conflicts with all of the changes.
This is a new PC with a new SSD installed. There couldnt have been other GPU drivers installed because when i tried to do so, it cancelled and told me there was no graphics card to update

I updated the bios to the newest version. Still having the same issue

After reseating the GPU and taking the CMOS out. It now lets me into the bios.

But restarting makes the PC not display on the GPU and defaults back to integrated graphics. Taking the CMOS out on its own doesn't seem to be enough for the PC to boot with the GPU.

It only seems to have display when the GPU + Cmos is removed and reinserted.

Anyone have any ideas on how to stop this?
