Hello, so I have a strange problem.

I had a question about the hard crashes about 3-4 months ago, and I blamed my PSU 550W with my RX 590. But now it seems to be gone, because when I play games there's no flickering, or any hard crashes whatsoever.
But when im idle, like I watch videos, or just leave the PC for a sec, the screen flickers, couple secs later it hard crashes. I just dont understand what could be the problem, because as I said when im playing there's no flickering or hard crashes. But when it flickers and i click, or just tap space, it goes away. I really have no idea about this problem, so if you guys could help, it would be greatly appriciated.

Solution
If your gpu seems to be crashing while idle, maybe try changing the performance settings. You've got a 590 so thats not Nvidia control panel but in control panel in manage 3d settings there is a "power management mode" and in there you can change it to "prefer maximum performance". If you turn it on your gpu won't idle down all the way. I don't know what AMD's equivalent of that is but I'm sure you could find it pretty easily. It will make your gpu run a few degrees hotter, but if you've got good airflow and preferably a mesh front case you should be fine. I do it on my 1660 super and I've never had a problem.
Do the hard crashes lead to BSOD's? If so, you can download WhoCrashed which would help narrow down the cause. You could also check Reliability Manager (by typing it in Windows search) and it could also help you identify some issues

You could also try Win + Ctrl + Shift + B when the screen goes black and see if that does anything (I believe it refreshes the graphic drivers?)

I've had a similar case where the fans would ramp up and the monitor would go black, which was caused due to a physical issue with the card itself. But, that only happened in game under load though, not at idle

No it does not lead to BSOD, when I idle for a couple seconds, the screen flickers, after the flickers the GPU fan goes 100%, black screen and I have to reset the PC with the power button.

If you're talking about power plans, its on Ultimate Performance.

did you try the win + alt + shift + B and/or check reliability manager?

Could it be a driver related issue? I've heard AMD gpu's have some pretty broken drivers, was there any notable changes before this problem happened or did it happen after the psu change?

Does your cpu have an iGPU? If so, you can try plugging your monitor cable into your motherboard when that black screen occurs, and see if you notice anything

Alternatively, you could try inspecting your physical card and see if there's anything wrong with it. Lay it on a table on the backside and check to make sure the pcb isn't slightly bent

It doesn't do anything with win alt shift B, the issue was here while I had multiple drivers, so it's definetly not a driver issue. Im guessing my coolermaster mwe 550W 80+ bronze is just too weak for it. There's no bending on the card. This PC is a little more than 1 year old, so the PSU might've said he had enough of this card.
