Ive been gaming on my computer now for a little under a year, while i was away at college my computer had been working great then i moved back home for the summer and all of a sudden my GPU is crashing. When it crashes the screen will turn black and stutter and a vibrating noise will appear in my headphones. Im pretty certain its not the OS because it was hapening on windows 8.1 before i upgraded to 10. i Also installed all the latest drivers from AMDs website. my monitor will remain normal as long as i dont do anything hard on my GPU like playing games.

Solution
Could be humidity or chip creep.. try cleaning the inside of the pc with compressed air.. remove the graphic card and reseat it properly do that for the RAM also. blow compressed air inside the PSU. Try resetting the BIOS. check again.
Its clean of dust and the fan is running? The graphics card is seated correctly? Check your power supply, if its modular, try another port and/or another cable. You might also want to check the temps with monitoring software such as MSI Afterburner.

overheating was the first thing i thought of and i cleaned all the dust out several times, i also checked all the fans and they where spinning. but i dont think its overheating at this point because it will sometimes crash at startup and also when i startup my pc the monitor will remain black and not show anything.
Another issue is that my GPU is underperfoming by alot, i used to be able to run BO3 at high to ultra settings now i have to run it at the lowest setting just to get to the start menu

is it possible that it was damaged when i was moving? it doesnt show any outside physical damage and was in the case the entire time but i guess it could be a possibility. What would be some side effects of physical damgage?

I would try running one video card at a time to see how it works. If one card has problems on its' own you know to replace it or run single card. If they both work ok independently then the power supply may not be doing the job for whatever reason. For crossfire 280's you should be using more power anyways, about 800 watts. If you're overclocking 850 watts would be better.

I think it could be a Bios issue, when i went into Bios and turned on oc genie it crashed again but it was a completley different crash, is there anyway i can completely reset my bios or a way to check if it is the bios?

Im only using a single r9 280, i dont think my psu is the issue though because its been powering my pc for about 8 months now and i havent had a single issue with it.

Sometimes things shift around, become unseated, and the first start-up after that the BIOS thinks some hardware change was made that never gets reversed. It can misidentify hardware and the results can be annoying. Resetting the CMOS would be the best course of action.
